potential changes to starclass!
Hi all
I just got invited to take part in a fairly comprehensive survey about JQ starclass (see what happens when you actually fly them and have to give your email addy!!)
Anyways, they had a whole bunch of variables which they presented pretty much like BA did a few years back before bringing in their changes.
The variables were mainly about giving you a reduction in price, at the expense of reduced earn rate, or giving up other services.
They wanted to know, for example, if you paid 10% less than the standard starclass fare, would you accept FIXED 3750 points per international flight? Other options asked if you would accept a fixed 2500 points per flight, but still keep some of the other on-board amenities, such as full cabin service (actually thats the only on baord amenity isnt it?)
In the mix were:
There was a lot of emphasis on acceptance of lower points.
you heard it first here!

In the mix were:
- 2500 or 3750 or standard bizzo class earn rate for points
- access vs no access to qantas club
- getting rid of priority check-in, but perhaps offering priority luggage and immigration/security
- offering as little a 7kg CHECKED luggage for free, with other options at 10kg, 20kg and the current 30kg
- doing away with full on-baord service and amenities
- offering a 5% or 10% discount in the fare depending on how many of the above you would accept to give up
There was a lot of emphasis on acceptance of lower points.

My response was that the most important aspects of Starclass travel to me were priority check-in, decent luggage allowance, included food and beverages and, most importantly, QF business class points and status credits. Without those, particularly the last, there is no incentive to travel JQ as Starclass is inferior to other product in the market.

I got the survey also, but after entering my details only got a free flow text box to write my opinions on Jetstar.! No questions re starclass, despite my last 4 JQ flights all being paid star class.

I got the survey although I have never flown StarClass. Mind you the questions were framed in a what would tip the scales in favour of choosing StarClass. (Would help if they offered it where I want to go, I guess).
I did make a comment at the end that SC earn was also important but never appeared in any of the questions as to how it would affect my decision making.

I am with Spiff on this one. All of those ideas don't appeal to me. We will see more and more international routes to be converted to JQ over the next years and the likelihood of having to fly them goes up with it. And I am happy to pay the current fares for at least the current service offering.
It seems to me that they are also trying to make the gap between QF and JQ even wider. QF introduces PJs and other amenities while JQ is moving further downmarket.

How (very) dare Q!
Here is a menu, from which we would like to know:
- which *C cuts would lose us your StarClass business?
JQ can then rank the order in which to cut *C amenities while minimising lost business.
As some wiser heads have stated, all the options are cuts, so the best choice is none of the above!
