First to BKK
Took QF1 to BKK.
First time in QF F, normally take TG.
It was crap, the FA's were lazy...I had the tasting menu and not one wine made it out with the course, I just gave up with FA...
And how the hell do you get you stuff from the overhead, the chap next to me slept from take off, i was stuck... no way could I get to my bags... and this is First!!!.
QF, you have a below average product in First.
First, and LAST.

Row 1 has no overhead bins, you have to use Row 2's. And you need to stand in the bed space of the row 2 center seat to get to one of those bins ... that was probably the OPs situation. QF keeps that very annoying closet in the nose precisely for this reason -- too bad the OP did not know enough to use the closet for his carryon and not the overhead bin. You have to be smart to fly F and have a good experience.

That was my thought too. The OP says they normally fly TG, and they hail from YVR so it could be an easy enough assumption - my tongue is only lightly in my cheek.

Ive always found QF's LHR-HKG/SIN/BKK service very good. The FAs on my flights have been terrific. As to the seats, the windows in Row 4 IMHO are the best with the extra table space to spread out work. I do find the other seats have barely a place to leave a pile of magazines or papers unless your tray table is out.
I would recommend giving QF another shot.

Oh yes it was First.....
It was blinding when i needed my bag and the chap in 2C was fast asleep (In a sleeping bag he had brought)....
I was in 2A, and just could not get to the overhead.... Row 4 would have been much better as its much wider there.
Look I shouldn't complain I normally take the dash 8's to CBR twice a week...thats doing it tough.
As to the service of the FA's i guess i was expecting to get blown away
, oh thats 1A is it not!.
I will give it another go to Europe next trip and see, that ones on company dollars not mine.

The TG cabin in C on their best aircraft to Oz (the 772) also has things that annoy the hell out of me. Try getting bin space in the back of the C cabin when the crew have stuffed all their junk in the bins first. Try using the adjustable arm rests so they don't collapse when you are resting your arm on them. Try to sleep in the centre cabin where the floor is so thin that it bounces when heavy footed crew / SLF walk past...... No cabin is perfect.

But it is a little silly to provide a tasting menu with matched wines and then nt serve the wines with the food...
I have failry limited experience with QF F - about 6 flights now. In that experience I have found the male cabin crew to be excellent, attentive and efficient. Unfortunately I have found the female cabin crew bored, listless and inefficient.
The problem with a spotty F service is that first impression do count significantly - when someone (company or individual) is paying top dollar for a seat then if your first experience of it is poor you are highly likely to not buy the same product again.

2) given that seat 2A, like all the seats in First, is on the aisle, how could any other passenger have restricted your access to the overheads?
Like several other posters above, I think you were actually in Business on a 2-class plane.

1) there is no seat "2C" in first class (the seats are numbered A-E-F-K).

Well it must have been 2E then..
The issue was when the pass in the seat across the aisle from me went to sleep I could not bend to get in the bin.
It was first for sure, trust me i know what first is...QF 1 does not operate a 2 class flight.
I agree the male FA was a lot better than the rather large female FA.
She was like tits on a bull.
Generally, I just go for the seats comfort, the food is never going to be better than average, after all its on a plane, that I'm fine with, but the product was/is not worth the extra money you pay over TG .
I might give BA a shot on the way back....

I've never had any trouble getting to an overhead in F, which ever row I happen to be sat in.
