Not sure what the 156 is - my only thought is it's a special (not the regular flight number for one of them though) or it's one of the new AKL flights that were planned, but may now be a casualty of the cuts.
The C letter in Galileo usually stands for "Closed" class, i.e. no waitlist left, class closed for sale. An R means you have to request a seat in that class to the carrier. The 9's and 0's are as you surmised - 9 or more available or 0 available. Not sure if L is still used, but that is a class that is on waitlist only.

uncertaintraveler, take QF26, it's a great flight, except for where you are connecting because you'll probably have hours to cool your heels in TBI. You've probably read the posts on the QC lounges in TBI (including the most recent topic thread in the last few days). Hope you are Plat to get the quieter F lounge (not that it's anything to write home about). Still, nice to be walked to your plane!!

Agree QF26 is great, and it is one of the earlier flights to leave LAX each night (9:35pm from during US summer). I'll be riding it in early May.

Never been walked from the F lounge to the aircraft from any QF lounge, and certainly never at TBI. Maybe I leave the lounge too early, but I thought this was a UA service that QF and BA have not duplicated. Please correct me if I am wrong and I will test it out when there next month.

I believe one of the unpublished benefits of Platinum is that they will wheeelchair you from the lounge to the plane once you have too many Crownies and can no longer sustain vertical orientation

That's the old benefit, obviously you haven't tried the latest.... The First lounge itself is transported and placed inside the plane; no need to leave the lounge at all ... In a new unpublished benefit for those from the land of N reg aircraft, to ensure conformity of benefits around the carriers, they will be charged $5 per drink in flight and will be required to leave a $20 tip in the lounge after having their 2 free drinks

I always ensure I am able to sustain vertical orientation when consuming Crownies (or whatever) in the lounge. But on occasions the rest of the people in the lounge all of a sudden seem to re-orientate themselves toward horozontility - including the furniture . Strange how that happens.

I think also that the "C" may also refer to when the a/c does not contain business class seats or if so , they are not sold as such.I had award bookings from ASP to SYD in June-NO more .The aircraft has apparently been converted to one without J class.

Nothing to do with the config of the aircraft (specifically, as you have mentioned).

The "C" merely means that the class is closed, cannot be requested, cannot be waitlisted, etc., etc., etc.

Generally means that the flight has been cancelled OR that the class has been closed out.

Not in this case no. Simply means J and D classes are closed for sale. No waitlist, no sale. Dragging things from the back of the memory banks here, but IIRC, each flight number (any carrier) is created with a set "profile". Aircraft type, amount of seats to be sold in each class and fare bucket, overbooking profile, seat classes, meal type etc etc. In the above instance I'm guessing the flight flight number some days has Biz and some days doesn't (until there are enough all Y 733's in the fleet to cover set rotations every time the flight operates), so it's profile will still keep a J and C class in it. Once there are enough all Y 733's to cover the flight number every time it is used, the "profile" for that flight will change to starting it's fare classes at Y in the readout and J and D won't appear as there is never any J or D to be offered on the flight number. Would be too difficult for the systems to have two profiles for one flight number, and I'd imagine a lot of fluffing around to keep changing the profile daily and making sure the right profile is in for the respective day, so far easier to just close out C and J class when it's not offered on a particular day until they are no longer needed.
