I was looking at my activity report online and noticed something new in the Status Credits column. For QF flights, they all had a ~ footnote next to them, which referred to the following text at the bottom:
"~ Eligible flight (Qantas, QantasLink or Jetstar segment) counted towards status attain/retain. "
Almost all of my AA flights - which are booked on a Qantas Business itinerary as part of a single trip - did not have this footnote.
I thought that all OneWorld flights were eligible for earning purposes; in the past I was sure that such flights had been. Can anyone clarify what's going on? Is this a recent change or something that's always been there but not enforced? For someone with 3000 odd SCs this year it's a fine way to show loyalty

4 segment rule to maintain status . The rule is not new, but general opinon is that it is now being enforced.
fine way to show loyalty Its QF loyalty QF want. Not AA loyalty.

For earning points and SC purposes all OW flight still count (within the normal rules). But they do not count for the QF minimum segment rule.
The rule has always been there but QF has never enforced it. Since the beginning of the year you need to make sure that you have at least 4 segments with a QF flight number (codeshare do count).

FWIW, AAdvantage have a 4 segment rules as well; they appear to choose not to enforce it. BA have a similar rule and are known to be enforcing it.
As far as oneworld goes, the following is on the One World site at oneworld Tier Status:

I believe the four segments have to be on QF or JQ aircraft specifically, rather than just codeshares. Were the AA flights QF codeshare? This would not satisfy the four segment rule. I think that once you have the four segments for the year, the comment regarding this disappears from your account.

You don't have to be on QF metal. Codeshares do count so you can be on an OZ or BA aircraft as long as you have the QF flight number. If you are on a QF aircraft but have an AA flight number the flight will not count.Originally Posted by mattm199

As covered in another thread, someone can try whether the train trip from Frankfurt to Hanover will count as an eligable flight....
