Schedule changes
Hi guys, me again
I'm trying to finish off my australia trip schedule and I logged in and viewed my international booking and it said that my flight details had changed and that I needed to phone them or click the confirm button.
This got me thinking on two counts, firstly I didn't receive any email or other contact from qantas about this, what would have happened if I'd turned up at the airport expecting to board the flight? I was previously confirmed and sitting in 13A.
Secondly, my ticket is non-refundable/changable, would qantas doing this cancel the ticket without penalty? i.e losing the flight & my money! (this is just purely a question out of interest, I've already re-confirmed)
My flight "change" was it taking off 5 minutes later!
I'm also not sure what to do for the rest of my trip, it currently looks like this:
LHR-SYD
SYD-BNE
BNE-MEL
MEL-AYC
............
SYD-LHR
I'm only spending a day in ayers resort because firstly it's a rip and secondly the flies do my head in!
I've basically got 4 nights after I fly out of AYC (my last night will be spent back in sydney to ensure I make it to the plane without drama!), I'm not really sure what to do.
I'm considering spending the time in perth, but am open to suggestions. Having a bit of trouble locating a nice hotel.
Thanks.
Adrian

With me they have phoned a few days before, if I have not contacted them. Sometimes I have had the message on the web page screen for months. Depending on what the change is, it can be to your advantage. I have had flights bought forward by days when the revised departure time did not suit me

Does anybody know the answer to the other question? Does the qantas schedule change mean that a non refundable/changeable ticket can be cancelled without losing the money & flight? Although this doesn't apply to me, I find it somewhat interesting.

When Qantas changed my booking they kpt that change message up for about a Month and then emailed me to say my flight was taking off 5 Mins later and will now be operated by QantasLink (Eastern Australian Airlines) in a Dash 8.
Thing that got me is now my journey in September will take 15 Mins longer than it wuld have in the 737 Jet

This is not always useful. An example was my Brother who booked three award and one red e-deal on Qantas flights for MEL-OOL-MEL between Christmas and New year. This for himself, his wife and two young boys. He did this 355 days out in early January that year. The scheduled flights were changed in July to depart 4 hours earlier at around 6am; a very inconvenient time with two children under 6. He was given the option of full refunds, but it was too late to get award seats on flights during the christmas peak.
