The only times I was personally greeted were on CX (90% of the time), and once on QF when I was in F.
The only times I wasn't greeted on CX were when the cabin was full. I did notice one time that the CX manager didn't greet everyone - those that were flying on non-CX flight numbers.
It's certainly nice being greeted, but it's no big deal really. I tend to keep to myself and observe whether I'm travelling by myself or with others.
P.S. I was a SG at the time.

Well of course there are sub-classes of WP's
...there's the original (me
) and then there's the rest of you lot.
Seriously, it is all dependent on how the CSD does their job. They have the pax manifest on every flight and know who is seated in F, J and of high tier status in Y. Whether they chose random pax, or work backwards from First to Economy (what I have seen happen more often) means there will be inconsistencies in the delivery of the "service".
I'm of the school of thought "great to be acknowledged but the world isn't going to end if I don't".

I've had the F/A doing the gate reader thing note the PS or QC Silv on the BP and give me the "good to have you back again" line. I agree.. it's a fairly easy and quick thing to do and makes me feel like someone's paying attention, even if it isn't really personal to me. It's still nice. Besides, the nobodies behind me can look envious thinking I am some kind of bigwig

I am sure some other F passengers must have thought I was seated in F as a friend/guest of the captain, but there was no such influence. I recognised his name when the CSD introduced him over the PA and I was pleased to see him come to the F cabin to personally greet all the F pax. He started at 4A and worked forward, then back to me seated in 4K.
I wonder if the excellent service I received for the rest of the flight was a result of the cabin crew noting how much time the captain spent speaking with me

.Last week in 46A on a 744 the middle ranker came up and greeted me by name, welcomed me back and gave me the last newspapers from J, that was nice.
CX named me on 3 out of 4 in Y last week.
Nothing SYD-HKG and 3 days later HKG to LHR. However, I hope that the lady from Door 3R remembers me in the future!
Worst scenario was being called by first name by five members of cabin crew on a 744 sector. I knew I was doing too much then.

Anyone remember when the CSM (FSD) used to come into the QP and identify and greet passengers and tell them what was going to happen? I understand why it aint so any more, but it was always a nice touch.

Last time I had that infoworks was travelling LAX/BNE on QF26 in F, a couple of years ago. The Lounge CSA led us down from the (excuse of a) F lounge and we were met by the flights' CSD enroute. There were 5 of us and we were given the right royal treatment.
Alas, haven't flown in F since
