Interesting, however next time the planes are in AVV for a C or D check the 2 extra seats will be worth QF installing just for extra revenue.

I have my suspicions that ZK-JNC has been retired sometime in the past few days. It's been sitting at AKL at the maintenance ramp for a number of days now without seeming to go anywhere. Can anyone confirm whether this bird has been removed from service early??? It looks to be in bad shape in terms of ultra-faded paint and dirty fuselage.

JNC most recently operated as QF131 on Friday 18th September.

The new 73H began TT service on the 17th and a second 73H has been operating since yesterday.

I cant go into detail but JNC has an engineering issue and depending on when ZQC is confirmed for service it may not be worth repairing JNC so close to retirement when JND still has a few cycles left and of course mainline can operate some Jetconnect services if required.

However any major costs from this are taken care of by boeing as the delay of the 73H was their doing thanks to not seeking FAA/CASA/CAA approval on a couple of minor things with the new aircraft before they were delivered. They set the delivery date and as this was not met any costs to Qantas/Jetconnect are their responsibility, including chartering Qantas aircraft and crew to operate flights.

With JTP/JTQ/JTR/JTS, JND & ZQA/ZQB is there any point in Jetconnect actually even considering keeping JNC??? I'm suprised they haven't taken it to the desert without ANY hesitation the second it had its 'issue'. I noticed the main cabin door was open in the heavy rain the other day at AKL with no cover whatsoever.

Well looks like, according to my source, that ZK-JND is being flown to the desert today (Sat 10th Oct) after retiring sometime in the past week or so. JNC has been pulled out of its maintenance mishap (fixed up) and will fly for the next week before retiring as the last-ever Qantas 737-300. Rather ironic that this plane should operate the final domestic QF service and the final QF 733 service. ^ I think it's fitting that Charlie should have had such an interesting career. I really think it should go the Qantas Outback Museum. Also, when it was flying within Australia as a QF mainline aircraft it is rather famous for being the 733 which had a terrible landing mishap in Darwin in Feb 2003. It ran off the runway and damaged some equipment on the ground. Simply type in VH-TJB in google and you will find the full accident description at the ATSB web-site.
