Interline and Checked Through Baggage exceptions?
Hi, I am aware that Qantas does not interline / check through luggage on separate PNRs from QF to a Oneworld airline. I would like to know whether there is any exception to this rule / would be possible to contact Qantas in advance and request an exception to this. Hypothetical itinerary: 1. AUS - Japan award ticket (QF); 2. Japan - Europe award ticket (JAL). (Separate tickets and PNRs). Thanks in advance.

As mentioned, except for Award->paid or paid->award, there is no other exception for interline from QF
Either get the 2 awards on the same booking , travel without checked baggage or collect/check in at the airport between bookings

You chances of getting a specific exception are nil (or less)

Innocent question here, assuming the JL booking is ticketed on JL stock in JL res system, when presenting the itinerary will QF be able to see that the JL ticket is an award ticket vs commercial ticket? Will there be a flag in altea (??) to indicate as such? Or would it rely on the check in agent looking at the fare class on the ticket that the OP presents? They would I assume see the QF is an award ticket.
I'm just saying not in policy, but in practical terms there may be a chance of the JL ticket going through to the keepers, unless flagged in the system. Just being devils advocate here, I don't know the answer one way or the other.

For most airlines it is the computer looking and not the agent looking ... the checkin rules are enforced in software and wont print the baggage tag without an over-ride. Alternative is for agent to do a manual tag -- which is a lot of work and presumably requires high level of approval. Don't think the agent is ever making a decision any more, at least not in the past 5 years.

I have read various reports of various passengers having difficulty getting award->revenue or revenue->award tickets through checked as per policy, sometimes needing to escalate that I had assumed it was indeed a manual process involving an over-ride. Although granted, these may have been difficulties when the policy was first implemented, and probably not now.

Just checking whether policy is still the same - Have purchased a JL ticket out of Melbourne and buying a domestic ticket to Melbourne to connect to it - if I book the domesric flight as an award booking on Qantas, wanted to confirm whether the award-revenue exception would apply and so be able to check bags through from QF to JL

I brought a ticket from OTA going from ACK to SYD to MNL served by Qantas and Philippines Airlines. Its on a single ticket and booking with checked bag. Is there an interline agreement between QF and PR?
I got 2:45h layover in SYD, is that enough time to self transfer my bag?
Would I need to go thru customs and immigration upon arrival in AUS ?
Both QF and PR flights arrive & departure from SYD T1.
I got 2:45h layover in SYD, is that enough time to self transfer my bag?
Would I need to go thru customs and immigration upon arrival in AUS ?

The passemger claims to be going from Nantucket and will be connecting in Austin - today's reason for not using abbreviations when unsure of the abbreviation
If travelling from Auckland to Manila via Sydney on a through ticket, Qantas does have an interline agreement for baggage with Philippine Airlines , so there should be no issue with checking bags through
