Status maintain problems
i have read that it's worth keeping 80,000 flight miles in your FF handy as QF somties offers an exchange for them for those people who have fallen short of SC,s to maintain there current status allowing them to keep there status at the end of there membership year for another membership year minus 80,000 on the account .

I have read that it's worth keeping 80,000 flight miles in your FF handy as QF some times offers an exchange for them for those people who have fallen short of SC's to maintain their current status allowing them to keep their status at the end of there membership year for another membership year minus 80,000 on the account .
Anyway poor use of 80,000 points as difference in status benefits from 1 level to the next is limited. Gold (OW sapphire) & Plat (OW E) for lounge access is the most useful benefit to many people.
QF have been know to comp renewal if you are close. Some people have said it is a 3 year rolling SC average.
The big problem for some people not living in Australia/NZ, or the regions where QF/JQ fly, is having 4 QF or eligible JQ flights in 12 months. The QF forum gets threads on that topic every few months.
Edit:- surfergold's other thread on basically the same topic
Qantas double SC,s points event Question.
Edit 2:-
QF codeshares in Europe

I agree if it means moving down from Plat to Gold that the use of flight miles of 120,000 is to much allthough there value seems to be on the decline but the Gold is worth it if your a no hope on the SC,s
I want to try some first lounges so value my SC,s highly.

Anecdotal evidence is that the rolling average is no longer applicable.

I have never read about that.

80,000 pts to retain SG, 120,000 to retain WP.
