I just saw this in the the conditions when I was about to make a booking: "Requests to cancel a Classic Flight Reward ticket (where permitted) and re-credit points may be submitted prior to the commencement of the first flight in your booking and will incur a Cancellation Refund Fee in points. Only points that would not have expired will be re-credited." So I guess this would not work as expected.

I'm sorry if I am not using the most current thread on miles expiration. I did a search on "expire", "expiry", and "expiration" in the title and came up with several dozen posts but this is the most recent one I could find.
I have a reminder in Outlook that my points expire on Dec 31/22. I figured I'd log in to see how much I have (only 15K miles, but they can come in handy for inter Australia/NZ travel). However, when I check my activity, I have 3 transactions that say (all with the same date): 10-Nov-2022 POINTS EXTENSION Does this mean that QF was kind enough to extend my points for 18 months from Nov 10/22? I'm sure this is amply discussed on the correct thread which I couldn't find. TIA! :) |
Yes. But for how long is to me uncertain.
A family member (not in AU) had extensions in Oct 2021, Feb 2022 & Nov 2022. A major failing of the QF ffp is the expiry date is not stated. Look at Post 9 here-->https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...l#post28330576 |

I just checked on Award Wallet, and my expiry date has been extended to Jun 30/23. Thank you!

I would not trust that. They may be doing a calculation: not a direct info link from QF ffp.

Any challenges with points expiry, I am happy to supply an address if you would like to buy 19,800 points?

At that time, QF emailed to give the new expiry date of 31 December 2022. It would have been good if QF had sent a similar email this time to avoid any doubt about the length of the extension. |
Time to bump this topic back up. I'm in the US with 95,000 Qantas points set to expire in September. Would buying with money or points an Air BNB gift card through the Qantas shopping/maeketplace portal reset my 18 month clock?, Would the points post fairly quickly?

If staying at AirBNB that can earn QF points. 2018 thread--->https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...gh-qantas.html Flying AA or AS can earn QF ff points. If AU citizen/resident can be more options. Look at Post 9 here for more suggestions-->Disaster - Just lost over500k points QF Qantas Wellbeing (health) app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_AU&gl=US From https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...ve-active.html

I managed to download the health app here in the US, and it's been working great for me. (My favorite feature is the 2.5 pts I get every night for sleeping without looking at my phone - as KF said, you don't need to do much.) You can find instructions online about how to do this outside of Australia. Although it's not necessarily supposed to work this way, I was able to download it simply by temporarily switching my VPN to Australia, which made it show up in the Google Play store. As I recall it took a couple of days of the app being up and running for it to be fully connected to my Qantas account, during which time I didn't think it was going to work after all. But one day the points started transferring and it's been working like clockwork since then. Highly recommended!

So I was thinking my points would expire in September, but now think it is more like the end of November. I purchased an award flight on May 25, 2022, and I Cancelled the flight, and the points were redeposited into my account on January 11, 2023. Would I be correct to assume my points will expire on November 25, 2023?

it’s only available to Australians and even using a foreign phone in Australia won’t allow you access unfortunately.

Should do (only family transfers and Qantas business rewards don't count as activity). But the easiest way as mentioned is to install the Qantas Wellbeing app, which between exercises, sleep and check up activities typically drops 20-30 points a week in...
