QF A380 First Class - does anyone else notice that the floor "creaks"?

I was on QF94 in F recently. A few hours prior to landing, there was a lot of cabin crew activity due to breakfast, clearing beds etc. I was still trying to get a nap after breakfast. I noticed a lot of creaking as they moved up and down the aisle. I'm not sure if this was the floor itself, or if it transmitted into the cubicles, causing those to "flex". I don't think they were being overly heavy in their steps, but not really cautious either.

Does anyone else notice that? A minor irritation on an otherwise near perfect flight.

Yes, noticed that too few weeks ago on QF2. It was annoying as the whole seat wobbled every time someone walked past.

.....hence the true purpose of pre-departure champagne is revealed.

Dull the senses to the very modest structure that an aircraft actually is - even in F.

That would only work on people who drink alcohol.

Good thing the carpet is keeping the plane together then. Wouldn't want something to go wrong, after all.

TBH I have never noticed the floor creaking in first class, the champagne must have worked on me.

Could it be that it may not be a problem on all A380s? I have been on 3 of the QF A380s in F, and haven't noticed it, but again it could be the champagne hitting the spot.

On QF9 going into Dubai I did notice lots of plates rattling, from about 3 hours outside of Dubai. These were the "small plates" that were used in the supper service. It sounded like they were washing the plates up, but this seems unlikely. At one stage I was almost wondering if the crew were having a plate-rattling competition.

As a previous nervous flyer really pleased to read this post 9 days before my F class flight from LHR-MEL on the 10! :0

Will have to consume a few more glasses of fizz to keep me from creaking up!

I'm wondering if row dependent. I was in row 1 or 2 middle. I can't recall, since this was my sleeping sit. The FA nicely offered me a separate seat to sleep compared to my upright one .

Is the cabin that quiet even with the engine noise to hear creaks?

The 380 cabin is really quiet. It is an amazing difference when compared to the 744. The QF 380 F cabin is far enough away from the most noise prone parts of the airframe (ie the very front) and indeed, even the front of Business is delightfully quiet. Across the range of aircraft, Airbus is consistently quieter than Boeing (type for type and position for position). Engine noise is a non issue.

IIRC the A340 (500-600) were the exception and required a realignment of engines to make it quieter.
Boeing seem to think the way to reduce weight (and make the performance guarantees) is to reduce the noise insulation and state that passengers do not like quieter cabins. I have also been told that the insulation on the 777 has een reduced in thinkness to assist with the installation of 10 across seating in WHY.

EK F in the upper deck of the 380 is da bomb for quietness and F. Yes, QF F is very nice in the nose area, but I felt EK was also very good for noise.

It is true that the F cabin is remarkable compared to the 744.

As for the creaks yeah maybe I have heard one or two but can't say I lost any sleep (no pun intended) over them but I know my next flight in a month I'll be primed and paying extra attention because it iwll be in the back of my mind!!

I never noticed it when sleeping. I really noticed it when I was trying to get to sleep. Those times when you're half tired. I'm not an easy sleeper.

I'm trying to remember if I "heard" it more or "felt" it more. And it may genuinely be that the FAs are especially careful during the night portion of the flight, but behave normally during the day portion. Again a minor issue, but it would be nice if they could adapt their movements if not inconvenient, and they see someone laid down. In this case, I'm sure someone would say they had the living crap scared out of them since the FAs were so silent .

FirstClass World Problem. Agreed. But it's still a problem - the sort that keeps me up at night . We should be moving forward and not staying where we are.

Do what those of us in the back (WAY back) do, spend 50c of a pair of good quality earplugs.

I certainly agree that if I was spending $10,000 on a ticket that this would annoy me too, but for an extra 50c, problem solved....
