I just went to book a MQD run for TIJ-CUN the weekend of Sep. 8. However, when selecting seats, the connecting flight of MEX-CUN and CUN-MEX, was premier light. I selected premier at initial booking. I just want to make sure that I get the actual credit for the flight and the fare code is correct. Do I need to select another flight then to get premier on both routes or is this common?

You are fine. You earn miles on the fare purchased. The segment MEX-CUN is often flown in an all-coach cabin with the middle seats in the first few rows blocked.
AM calls this "premier light". You still earn the same as regular premier as on the TIJ-MEX segment.

Really interested in doing run, but just saw horrifying CBX reviews

I am really considering doing a mileage run through TIJ with a friend, but my friend is highly concerned about flying out to TIJ. So I went to the CBX site and everything sounds great. However, the reviews are horrifying. People are talking about 4 hour waits just to get through CBX.

https://www.google.com/search?client...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Driving from LAX and hoping that 4 hours is enough to get through CBX seems a bit much. The process of dealing with a missed flight is even worse when you try to re-ticket:

I have 122K miles but need 3K MQDs to retain my Platinum status on Delta. Just not sure about starting flights from TIJ for a mileage run is worth the problems about getting over the border.

I couldn't make myself watch all 15 min of that boring drama queen. But if you decide to give it a try, take a shuttle to CBX instead of driving. All the other mishaps happened at most airports this summer, and not unique to CBX.

I watched a bit of his rant. He makes all kinds of mistakes, assumptions and poor judgements, but blames everyone else. I’ve never used CBX, but this guy’s story wouldn’t dissuade me in the least. (Not so)Pro tip: unless you are prepared to deal with the possibility of missing your flight, don’t arrive at the airport parking lot entrance 2 hrs before your flight at an airport you've never been to, you don’t speak the local language, and you need to cross a border.

It almost looks like you could just do this run 2 or 3 times back to back to run up MQDs.

These AM runs will be a great way for me to top off MQD's this year; thanks OP! I've got a question for those that have done these Mexico runs before - what airports in Mexico are reasonably safe overnight? I would be traveling by myself and as a woman want to make sure, if I end up overnighting somewhere, that it's a reasonably safe place. That will help me narrow what airports I focus a date-and-fare search on. It would also be good to know if I should absolutely avoid any airports. I appreciate any input on this!

There is a NH hotel literally in T2 MEX. As for the others, it depends on your risk tolerance. The US State Dept has a decent risk-gradation on their Mexico page, here: https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...-advisory.html

Has anyone recently done this MR? How long did it take the MQM's/MQD's to post to your SkyMiles account? I'm in the middle of doing this MR as I'm sitting in CUN right now. I will follow up with how long it takes me to get the miles posted to my account.

I did LAX-MEX-LAP-MEX-LAX late last week and most of the legs have posted as of yesterday.

Thanks to everyone in this thread for the help!

Keep your boarding passes that show your Delta number, just to be on the safe side...

TIJ-CJS

Trying it out this weekend, a 1am to 6PM sprint, didn't quite feel like getting out of the airport in Ciudad Juarez.

With that being said, given that this is a domestic trip within one country, do I have complimentary lounge access at TIJ, MEX, and CJS?. I am STE +, and Delta diamond if that helps given their partnership with AM.

As well, any showers at the Aeromexico lounges in MEX? Any info would be appreciated, thank you kindly.
