AM: TIJ to/from Multiple cities from $244 (great MQD Runs)

Looking for more MQDs runs to post, I came across several ex-TIJ deals, which work well for SoCal Delta flyers as it is easy to access Tijuana Airport from San Diego via the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) which is an airport terminal located on the United States side of the border making it easy to fly out of Tijuana Airport.

I selected ideally 0-1 nights but play around for longer time frames. As with most Aeromexico fares they book into I class so 40% of Distance as MQDs and 150% as MQMs plus lots of extra RDMs.

There are some flights (not in these samples) with Boeing 787s on the MEX-TIJ/CUN so you could look for them for a nicer ride. Most intra-Mexico fares allow just one connection and no double dipping from my research so you can't really build 3+ segments that easily compared to US routes...

The highest MQD Ratio I've seen is SJD at an amazing 7.08 MQD Ratio earning 1729 MQDs for $244, of course some of the other routes add more MQDs but not as optimal ratios, still all posted deals are 5+ MQD Ratios Another perk of CBX/TIJ is that according to their website (A COVID-19 test is not required for CBX passengers.) which can save some money (but please be smart and play safe, don't travel if sick!)

Full Disclosure: At some point in the last year or two I've posted ex-TIJ deals, but not in the last few weeks and in the case of SJD probably the cheapest I've ever seen it... Also taking bets on how long it takes some of the copy-paste sites (WTC) to post these unique city pairs.

Domestic Destinations (no issues with Immigration at MEX)

Tijuana to San Jos del Cabo $244

TIJ-SJD would earn 6483 MQMs 1729 MQDs 7.08 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 13830 RDMs, Platinum 12102 RDMs, Gold 11237 RDMs, Silver 10373 RDMs, Base 8644 RDMs

Tijuana to Puerto Vallarta $287

TIJ-PVR would earn 5520 MQMs 1472 MQDs 5.12 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 11776 RDMs, Platinum 10304 RDMs, Gold 9568 RDMs, Silver 8832 RDMs, Base 7360 RDMs

Tijuana to Cancun $320

TIJ-CUN would earn 6684 MQMs 1782 MQDs 5.57 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 14259 RDMs, Platinum 12477 RDMs, Gold 11586 RDMs, Silver 10694 RDMs, Base 8912 RDMs

International Destinations (potential issues with Immigration at MEX)

Tijuana to Phoenix $484

TIJ-PHX (no 500 min) would earn 9375 MQMs 2500 MQDs 5.16 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 20000 RDMs, Platinum 17500 RDMs, Gold 16250 RDMs, Silver 15000 RDMs, Base 12500 RDMs

Tijuana to Newark $578

TIJ-EWR would earn 11208 MQMs 2989 MQDs 5.17 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 23910 RDMs, Platinum 20922 RDMs, Gold 19427 RDMs, Silver 17933 RDMs, Base 14944 RDMs

Tijuana to Fort Lauderdale $567

TIJ-FLL would earn 10659 MQMs 2842 MQDs 5.01 MQD Ratio while Delta Diamond members would obtain 22739 RDMs, Platinum 19897 RDMs, Gold 18476 RDMs, Silver 17054 RDMs, Base 14212 RDMs

That is 100% true as it is considered walking into the US. I've had friends fly SAN-SJD-TIJ for that exact reason. Well, that and the fares out of TIJ to SJD on the ULCCs are much cheaper than the non-stop on AS.

Did you check? Rule of thumb for international fares is that they do not work in the opposite direction.

keep in mind that you will need tests if you fly from TIJ to US (you do not if you fly into TIJ and then walk across)

and for that particular itinerary you better find time in between flights to do binaxnow test to enable your return at 1 am
9hr layover in GDL seems perfect for that

Keep in mind that the Damaris Express SAN -> CBX shuttle is not currently running so you'll need to fork over $30-50 for Uber or Lyft each way. It's listed on that site but the bookable times come up empty.

Anyone having any luck booking TIJ-SJD through Expedia or Aeromexico? Aeromexico says flight not found while Expedia quotes me a higher price?

The CBX Shuttle is indeed running. I've seen it coming and going to/from Santa Fe Station in downtown San Diego for the past couple of months. Tickets are bookable and time slots available on the site quoted.

Very nice deal OP.

Is this the return of more AM deals since they've completed restructuring? Thought it all ended after the last BCN/GRU thread where they pulled all availability.
