Out

wanted to book today for March as I’ll be in EBB but fares again over 4K... ((
are there frequently some good offers from EBB or was that just a coincidence?

I wanted to book this offer to reach my gold status at the executive club.

Thanks for your help :-)

so I managed to book this deal but after looking at the visa options the single entry obviously wont work as I will have to get to EBB clear immigration to get the luggage and then go back through. This process will need to be done twice both on the outbound and inbound leg so I am assuming the single entry visit wont work?

You can get two single entry visas.

There used to be a cheap transit visa, but it doesn't seem to exist any more...

Visa on arrival costs USD 50 and takes about 5 minutes (apart from queuing). Do not be bothered with the e-Visa offered, in my recent experience they first attend to all VoA passengers before they start serving the e-Visa queue.

Do not forget you need a yellow fever card. they get checked by Port Health before you proceed to the immigration desks.

I have a feeling, although can't substantiate it, that there would be a transit channel and that staff (the airline's handling agent) would take care of your luggage. I'm trying to verify with friends in Uganda.

No transit channel at EBB.

There IS an airside transit in EBB but I'm not sure if you'd be allowed to use it without an onward boarding pass... and no chance if you have to collect and recheck luggage.

Given the luggage allowance on a J ticket*, I'd be putting all the bags into your name if at all possible, and trying to send spouse and kid via the airside channel.

* 65kg each ex-Africa, plus 15kg for your QR Gold card

I did think of doing this but with it being the first time at EBB not sure I would want to send my wife and infant wandering off trying to get airside transit by themselves.. I could potentially go through the airport the first time and see if it is viable and maybe for the second time send them by themselves

This post implies that an officer would escort transit pax, which coincides with what my Ugandan friend got told by his friend at the immigration dept this morning.

Having been to EBB about 5 times in the last 12 months, I would not hesitate doing that.
