Seems more appropriate for Jerry Springer.

No mention of any kind of rudeness on the part of any TSA people.
Were you really surprised?

I wonder if her "explaining" is the equivalent of what we call "barking."

So I recorded it on my DVR today and just watched the one segment with Stephanie.

It was about 2 minutes long. She was not in uniform. Top Tier's post pretty much covered it, although Stephanie also complained about passengers talking on cell phones instead of paying attention to ID-checkers and screeners.

It was totally obvious that Stephanie just didn't get why passengers might be annoyed at the war-on-water, and she made a statement indicating she totally bought into the credibility of the liquid bomb "threat."

All in all, that someone (be it TSA or Oprah) paid money to fly this woman out for this segment is an abomination. local at ORD and MDW must be really low quality for them to have stooped to flying someone in. I wouldn't take any air trip for something that pointless unless there were a good number of EQMs on the table and I badly needed them to requalify.

Not at all, exactly as expected in fact.

That would be my guess.

Curious ... what was the commentary after the fact from Oprah and the audience?

None really, they moved on to talking about rude people in restaurants, cell phone & blackberry rudeness etc etc.

I stopped watching after the very brief TSA bit.

Well, at least TSA didn't get to propagandize much from it.

Because it's Oprah, not Jerry Springer.

To be fair, the rudeness is often a two-way street, and throwing a bottle of cologne at anyone is never acceptable behavior under any circumstances. It's far better IMHO to keep a cool head in the face of unwarranted rudeness, rather than escalate things...makes the rude person look like that much more of an asshat in the process

I've only ever been through security at ORD once, and it was a wholly unremarkable experience (well, except for my usual eye-rolling about the liquids ban), so I can't comment too much on the local TSA there. Perhaps the producers were worried that a local TSO would be recognized afterward by out-of-town audience members at the airport?

I didn't think Springer had any more substance than Oprah ... just a different style.

I go through ORD twice a year. I've never had a pleasant experience with them. I really wish that I could pass from Customs straight to the gate of my connecting flight; I wouldn't have to deal with that checkpoint at all.

I find it interesting that, at nearly 11 am on the East Coast, not a single new comment has appeared on the blog in response to this latest piece of tax-payer supported PR, either positive or negative. Perhaps Blogger Bob was up all night w/Blogger Baby?

I watched the whole thing and was very disappointed in the show. The section on which behaviors are rude was fine, but once they has the TSA lady and the author of "Waiter Rant" on, it was very one-sided. They should have balanced the show by also having customers/passengers point out behaviors theu they consider rude when exhibited by TSA personnel, waiters, baristas, etc.
