My freind in Bangkok emailed to say their also able to lobotomize Burgar King frycooks in only one day so their dumb enough to work at TSA. Do you want frys with that?

Many employers who don't have the decency to pay a living wage seem to make up for it by at least bestowing an appealing title!

Private sector employers pay employees something between what their employees' skills are worth, what it takes to get people to work that job and what the employee is willing to get paid for the work. The government employs a lot of useless unemployable people, like a good amount of checkpoint monkeys for example. Given the government's penchant for inflating the wages of the unemployable, even THEY seem to think the checkpoint monkeys' skills aren't worth that much since they pay like what, $8 an hour?

If a secretary's skills are worth $7 an hour, so be it.

It varies based upon where it's at, given that not all airports have the same locality pay adjustment. That said, HSV starts at $12.41 an hour.

I think I found my next travel outfit.

I was actually glad to see an off-duty TSA agent, wearing a blue uniform and a badge, while I was walking in what I perceived to be a high crime area. Obviously the agent had no authority to do anything, but the presence of the blue uniform and badge made me feel more secure.

The TSA - For Joke or Novelty Purposes Only, not to be confused with Real Security.

yeah sad one is that I snapped a good close up photo of one of the embroidered badges(got to love the canon 100-400 L IS :D) on the old uniform that the embroider i do work for from time to time (so i can get work done for free) and digitized it and had her run it on the machine and it was a dead replica of the real one; total time 6 minutes and that included downloading the image, processing it in the software, then running it on the loom.

$50 and a visit to Singapore, Bangkok, etc will get you 2 perfect duplicate TSA costumes, badges and all.

I'm going to ask my local Halloween costume store if they'll have TSA screener uniforms this year. I'm tired of going to parties as Goebells - the silly walk, shouting at people, imagining them in the shower, it really is getting old. Oh wait, TSO, Senior Nazi Officer - same thing innit?

That's only because you knew any local who wanted to "put a cap in" someone's posterior is going to gun for the smurf first.

As soon as any criminal notices that the person works for TSA, they should know that the chances of the crime that the criminal might commit succeeding are very high.

As KRSW says, decoy/target value only. Actual safety or protection is non-existent. You'd be safer with a "No Crime, Please" sign.

I'm sure the agent would've been helpful if someone tried to attack you with a tube of toothpaste.
