I don't put military guys/gals in first class if they is on open seat unless the captain or a first class passenger says to.
Not to take this too far off topic, but not everyone in the military signed up with the intention (or knowledge of the possibility) of going to Iraq or Afghanistan. Some go there and build roads, schools, and other civilian infrastructure without ever firing a weapon. Some members of the military also get put in F because of status (gov't "Y" fares with 150% MQMs help). [I'm not talking about myself, but someone close to me.]
