TSA hates us as much as we hate them
I had the pleasure of hearing an interesting conversation when going through MCO and getting my secondary screening. I was packing up my things after my pat down and heard my tsa pat down agent say to another tsa agent, "congrats on your promotion, are you ever coming back here?" He said "hell would have to freeze over before I would work an entry point again. I hate it here and the people here. I'd quite before I would come back here". My tsa agent said "watch out, you're talking in front of a passenger" to which he just laughed. I said "It's okay, we love you as much as you love us". I left it at that, my tsa agent wished me a great day and off it went. So now we know how they feel about us!

Good attitudes, bad attitudes. There is not a job in ther world that doesn't have both. For example

Hate is such a strong word. To hate something means that you would do anything that you had to...in order to avoid it. It means that you would kill to avoid it. Literally. Working the checkpoint is tiring, repetitive, boring, and it is not filled with much appreciation by anyone. That is where the person is coming from, I mean come on he said that he loves the PAX.

I'm leaving the airport in my car when I suddenly lose control.........my only choice is to either crash my car into a wall, or smash into a group of TSA folks on a smoke break.
Lets just say my choice wouldn't be easy.

Your point is right about using the word "hate" towards people.
As for what the TSAer said to the pax....there's a little sarcasm in what that TSAers said. You should be able to pick that up.

There was nothing new there except I was a little surprised he was so open about it. I agree - hate is too strong of a word - I could have said loves

Yeah, at work we do little to shield the public from our opinions about the TSA... Three years ago what I did was tolerable, today it's simply a joke, I am certain that somewhere along the way the people in charge lost sight of this administration's purpose.

I'd posit that the administration's purpose is pandering to one or more a subset of the US citizens (or in Mr. Chertoff's case, attempting to pander to two subsets - the environmental crowd and the 'stop illegals' crowd). I'd also posit that the people in charge of the TSA are just following with that pandering theme, after all, good theater is intended to make folks believe something that they know not to be true.

Now, now, Mr. Chertoff has become the environmentalist as of yesterday, saying that a border fence will improve the 'environment' in the southern US.

Also the light pollution from the "string of pearls" (the lights that are on top of the fence) - the energy that goes into that and the gas guzzling SUV's that the border patrol run constantly (must have our AC on don'tcha know...) But I guess it will keep us all "safe" right? Their behaviour is also very much like that of the TSA. Once they came under the blanket of DHS the whole attitude changed. The fact that every act of terrorism has been produced by people who were in this country 100% legally seems to be lost in all of this. The TSA is just another facet of this keeping us safe illusion.
