Sure they can. And they will. Government is nothing more than a rotating collection of thugs having temporarily seized power over the biggest guns. They can and will do whatever they can get away with. And they certainly aren't going to have someone making them look like fools when they can easily do something about it.

Argenbright - a better choice.

Argenbright - why settle for Clown Security?

Argenbright - we're not shoe perverts.

Argenbright - 5 years of inane harassment is long enough.

The government does not work for you. I know they tell you this, and it sounds nice, but unfortunately, it's just not true.

People who work for you don't tax you, and they definitely don't claim the right to physically attack you should you not give them your money.

You work for them. Or else.

Question for you, wiyb:

What did you do before you began working for the TSA? Just curious.

Glad already has @ the Terminal B AA checkpoint entry in BOS-while they don't pronounce themselves the 'official' kippie of choice, they do have a very spiffy advertising sign right beside the baggie boy's podium.

Thank you Spiff, that was the laugh of the day! ^

Too bad the average traveler wouldn't get it though.

Unfortunately, don't expect a change in administration to have a positive influence on the TSA insanity. Just listen to what the "new" congress is talking about in terms of increasing the "security" measures currently being used. GW may have started this fiasco, but it has now taken on a life of its own and will be very difficult to reverse.

They'll avoid any issue pretty easily by contracting it out to a company the sells airport advertising (like JCDecaux), who will guarantee a payment back to the TSA or airport authority. It'll be no different than the advertising you see in the airports now. And since the private company is selling the advertising, they will put whatever restrictions on it that they want without violating the First Amendment.

Non-issue.
