pills and vitamins?

Hello,

I just came across this forum after searching for travel restrictions this weekend, great group, very informative.

One question that I cannot seem to find an answer for using search is if prescription drugs in pill form are acceptable. I have the same question for vitamins, art they acceptable if not liquid filled capsules?

Thanks and safe journeys

Hide them in your pockets in non-metallic containers

According to current TSA rules (available on their web site), both would be allowed.

Prescription drugs, even if liquid, gel, etc. are to be permitted if they have the prescription label on it and the name thereon matches that of the pax's ID.

OTC drugs (including those that are liquids less than 4 fl. oz.) are allowed. Of course, the TSA's web site still lists gelcaps as banned items, so that just goes to show how consistent they are.

Yes the gelcaps are banned, but would a Robitussin gel cap be a OK OTC drug? I still am not clear about a 1/2 oz bottle of nasal spray. It's not a drug, so does the 4 oz include a bottle of non-drug nasal conditioner?

OTOH, not that TSA are food or rocket scientists, but a gel cap of fish oil is a food supplement, not an OTC drug. All the stuff at the health food store, even the ones with borderline "this might be rumored to cure ____" anecdotal infomercial claims, are allowed to be sold and not regulated as drugs because they are classified food supplements.

Perhaps TSA can get some help from FDA to clear this up.
