On some level I can almost envision this as an evil attempt by "businesses" to encourage us to buy more things when we fly as we can no longer bring them from home.

I, too, had thoughts similar to those in your second paragraph. Certainly, Dr. Scholl's is not going to complain to anyone.

Claim that your shoes are orthopedic shoes and that you can't take them off because walking in barefeet as well as taking your shoes off and putting them back on causes pain. Believe me it does. I have a condition in both feet for which I use simple Dr. Scholl's inserts or orthotics - but it's very painful walking in barefeet and putting shoes on and taking them off.

I intend to tell the screeners that I can't bend over to remove my shoes. I need a chair.

I don't know what gel insoles look like, but if they are the right shape, perhaps they could be hidden in a bra?

Thankfully, the family asked for a supervisor. The sup overruled the X-ray agents.
That is priceless. Gummy bears will now be standard in my carry-on.

Aren't those the Hasidic gummy bears? The ones with the accessory hat?

Perhaps the supervisor was concerned there might be someone from FT standing in line.

Why shouldn't gummy bears be prohibited under the rules? Don't get me wrong, I think it's ridiculous; but, it is a gel-like substance. I wonder what the supervisor's justification was for allowing them? Where is the consistency?

Gel bras are now on the ban list according to Fox news earlier today. How do they know? And what exactly are they? Are they talking about the water-bra? I thought that went the way of the disco ball.

Now that you mention it, most people don't know that saline implants can be added to in situ by an MD (commonly done after cancer surgery in prreparation for the permanent implants). The temporary implants have valves which are accessed by a hypodermic needle.

I guess a sufficiently determined and well-financed organization could have implants filled with something other than saline, which a dedicated suicidal woman could empty in a restroom on the plane.

Maybe we'll see it reported on Fox News.

Gel bra

Here's a gel bra. I guess this means that we're going back to the days of the grope, huh?
