whatever happened to those plastic explosives that the brilliant French planted and supposedly some of them came to the USA? Shouldn't they have been found at the re-check or were they too busy figuring out who they were going to target for a pat-down?

As most people know, TSA is not responsible for the screening of the actual aircraft. The airline employees are responsible for ensuring that nothing prohibited is on the aircraft.

The explosive was put in a passenger's luggage, so the TSA would have been responsible for finding it. Of course, that is only true if the passenger had a connecting flight. If his US arrival city was his final destination then the TSA would never have seen his luggage.
