Someone has to be prepared to document the amount of radiation they are going to receive, and I take my hat off to those who will be doing this. You are the true heroes of freedom. However, it seems to me that in order to collect this vital data, you will need to be prepared to sacrifice a little more time and dignity... After sneaking the device into that ridiculous machine, you will probably need to be prepared for a pat down and risk the chance some goon will want to confiscate the radiation meter.

Did you mean "...some goon will demand the voluntary surrender of the radiation meter?"

(This post closed-captioned for the sarcasm-impaired.)

Without repeating the text. Here is a wikipedia article that describes the effects.

What specs? They're SSI.

Post the readout on the internet ASAP and instruct readers to spread it far and wide, making sure to post it on websites hosted in lots of different countries so it can never be taken down.

Aside: Gestapo. GeSTApo. ...can we put in for special dispensation from the linguists at Oxford to allow for spelling it "geTSApo" until this whole mess is over?
geTSApo...I like it!! ^

Intelligence. Sadly, all the clues were there with the undie bomber and all were ignored, just as the clues re: 9/11 were ignored. Reid was disallowed from flying one day; allowed to get on a plane the next day.

Did anyone lose his/her job because of missing the undie bomber? I doubt it. It's the flying public that is paying the price.

I apologize for updating a somewhat old thread, but I have been wearing a Luxel+ dosimeter for a little while now when going through the Backscatter Machine.

I show it to the TSA employee before going in, explaining what it is and letting them examine it if they want.

Three times now, the employee has looked at it, said, okay and let me wear it in the machine, one employee even commented she wished the TSA would give them out to employees as they have to stand next to the machine all day long.

My last time through IAD the agent was unsure if it was permissible and asked for a supervisor, the supervisor said something about receiving a memo that dosimeters had to be hand inspected and carried around the x-ray machine ( I am not sure if he was referring to the actual AIT machine or the Bag X-Ray Machine) and then returned to the pax after being screened.

However, after looking at it and turning it all about, he allowed me to wear it while being scanned and said that not every TSA employee maybe cool with my wearing through the AIT machine.

I'd have mentioned to the TSA "employee" that they had the choice of getting a real job instead of accepting money to grope strangers for a living...

Dan, could you give us a summary of your results? Do the readings you see match the TSA's statements?

Why tell them anything. It's always easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
