I apologize for updating a somewhat old thread, but I have been wearing a Luxel+ dosimeter for a little while now when going through the Backscatter Machine.
I show it to the TSA employee before going in, explaining what it is and letting them examine it if they want.
Three times now, the employee has looked at it, said, okay and let me wear it in the machine, one employee even commented she wished the TSA would give them out to employees as they have to stand next to the machine all day long.
My last time through IAD the agent was unsure if it was permissible and asked for a supervisor, the supervisor said something about receiving a memo that dosimeters had to be hand inspected and carried around the x-ray machine ( I am not sure if he was referring to the actual AIT machine or the Bag X-Ray Machine) and then returned to the pax after being screened.
However, after looking at it and turning it all about, he allowed me to wear it while being scanned and said that not every TSA employee maybe cool with my wearing through the AIT machine.

Why tell them anything. It's always easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
