If you were employed by TSA and knew the SSI stuff, you would see a threat. 
However, if you take two 3.99 inch sharp pointed knives and join them to be called "scissors," TSA says the are less a threat than a 2 inch knife and approved as carry-on. Don't you feel safer already?
