Peru Amazon advice

Hello

I'm planning a visit to Peru later this year, somewhere in September. I'd like to include an area where I can explore and view wildlife. So far I'm seeing two options, Manu and Puerto Maldonado. Are there any big differences between to two areas?

I haven't been to either yet, but from the research I've done it sounds like Manu is the more accessible and popular one. Lots of affordable trip options there.

If you're in Peru, you MUST hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu!

I also recommend whitewater rafting the Apurimac (Class V+) river!
So much to do and see. Very affordable country.
