Question Confirm booking for Shenzhen Airlines!?!

Went ahead and booked Shenzhen Airlines tickets from BCN-SGN (via Shenzhen) from Lastminute.com, saving a further 80 Euro over the airlines website. Duly got a booking confirmation with the details (e-tickets, PNR's, payment and name details). All looks good, except its impossible to manage the booking in any way - neither from lasminute.com nor Shenzhen airlines or Air China websites.

Tried calling, but gave up after 1 hr.

Anyone have any suggestions on where else I could try and manage the booking. Ideally like to add special menu and need to add PRM assistance to one pax. If can make a seat reservation, that would be good too.

Thanks

Chinese airlines are notoriously bad with their online reservation management systems (or the lack of them). Many of them require registration, and to do so you often need a Chinese phone number.

If you needed to request special meals and assistance, it's better to just contact lastminute.com

All Chinese airlines use a GDS prescribed by the CAAC. Managing to extract the required info to display the booking is possible but difficult. I would call the airline in your home country and ask them for help. They will be familiar with the issue and can resolve it.

Not used Shenzhen personally but when asked to provide your name try

SMITH/JOHN
or
SMITH/JOHNMR

(adapt to your own name)

But the core problem here is that either the phone number or email registered against the booking is that of lastminute.com and if the airline is using any of those as some extra info or even for some kind of OTP then you're going to hit a brick wall.

Email the airline with your passprort number and your ticket number, and then you should be able to see it in the app.

All Chinese airlines require identity documents when booking. However, when the tickets are booked from non-Chinese OTAs, the documents were not processed, which is the reason why the ticket is not available.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement, many OTAs will request API data when booking, whether they enforce it the way the Chinese oriented booking sites will do is another question.

So it's a good point, if API data wasn't collected/provided at booking then this may make management of the booking more tricky, but should be resolvable but may require a phone call to the carrier.

I checked on lastminute.com and when booking Shenzhen airlines flights passport details were not required by the OTA. However, all Chinese airlines requires that to manage your ticket, which was introduced as a measure to prevent irration fans to check their idol's seating and make trouble on the plane or at airprots. So to solve this, use the chat agent in their app or call the airline.

Thanks, thats in fact the reason I cannot get to confirm the ticket (let alone manage my booking) on Shenzhen Airlines website. I was hoping however that there might be a way to do so via 'mytripandmore', 'checkmytrip', amadeus or such. (The reason I posted this into the Star alliance section in the first place).

I amnot keen on downloading yet another app, just so I can check some details, specially when it should be just as easy to do on the web. Guess a call (and subsequently hours of waiting in the call queue) are my only options.

So, yes, in summary this is what has been learned:

1. booking on some other portal or provider lets you book tickets with only name (like Lastminute.com)
2. without the passport No, Expiry date, date of birth and name Shenzhen Airlines website is useless, and will just give errors
3. Calling +86 10 95361 was a way to get those details added.
4. That however doesn work still in my case (maybe because travelling with a minor!?)
5. An agent (press 2 for English) can book seats and special meals, but only seats that are free.
6. Only the seats are confirmed, no confirmation of special meals
7. Air China's website seems to go a step further and lets you enter the seat selection process, but now says there is already a seat reservation (which should be cancelled before making a new seat reservation
8. There is no optiont o cancel the seat reservation as far as I can see, even though my booking does show

9. emails go unanswered ([email protected] | no reply; [email protected] | no reply; [email protected] | mailbox over quota; [email protected] | no reply)
10. the Air China account seems to link in with the Shenzhen Air account, but still no use.

In addition to that, you might at the moment also be caught in the whole Middle East madness which currently overwhelms airlines worldwide as 3 majors hubs are essentially shut down.

Thanks, but I am not uising the app. Just the website. And cannot see any such option to cancel. And even if I cancel, there I may end up with more headaches. There might be no way to book the seats once cancelled, and only on the third call to +86 10 95361 did the agent actaully agree to book the seats. The others said they cannot help(obviously didn't want to!?)
