Ah, of course.

Everyone should know to look at the Technical Issues forum to keep up-to-date on Randy's decisions, instead of the ORP forum.
How about earlier in this thread? Like around post 39?
Thank you, edlin303.

As a matter of fact, if one had really read my reply and the two referenced posts, s/he would have noticed, it IS exactly post#39 in this ORP thread that I was talking about and referenced to. tom911 just pointed out that post and helped highlighted Randy's timeline in reopening CC (i.e. the 4th paragraph in Randy's original reply).

ORP is the forum to read Randy's thoughts and decisions. Personally, I just think it's too hasty to ask Randy for another update before a whole week is up.

ps. To cut down any more confusion, my original reply was addressed to this post (i.e. post#70).

Oh, I don't know, how about -5 points for every post consisting solely of a smiley or LOL....

I think that this is a good summary. Personally, I would eliminate even the "except in special circumstances" - that could probably be taken to PMs as well.

(Although I probably have made fewer than ~10 CC posts, I would be sad to see it go. There have been times when it has been extremely useful to me, and a little due diligence has helped me avoid pros, who I think are leeches on the system.)

Of course there is, just as there is a self-enhancing reason for yours (you're annoyed by the requests, so you want them gone or relegated to a separate section, so you can more easily ignore the already-easily-ignored).

You misrepresent me, sir. I never said or implied that people who complain are "evil" or in any way bad. Everyone is welcome to his/her commentary; I simply want to see it in a discussion thread/forum and not hijacking someone else's offer/request thread. I'm not the intolerant communist buffoon that you seem to imply (whether tongue-in-cheek or not).

I think a hypothetical "CC Discussion" subforum would be fine for that, similar to the MR Discussion subforum.

Thanks for the update. Any hint's on what adjustments you are going to be making with the "Grand Reopening under new Management"?

I think that the idea that a name says a lot about a person or thing comes into play here.

The name "Coupon Connecton" sounds like what many long-time FTters have described as the early incarnation of the exchange forum. People sharing unneeded and unwanted coupons, and other minor items gained from their loyalty program activity. Things like discount certificates, drink chits, one-time club entry coupons - things like that.

The morphing of the earlier, community-building idea of CC into a Bizarre Bazaar of Bartering (of major, high-value awards, many of which, to put it kindly, come close to being loyalty program TOS violations), could be perplexing indeed to a casual, disinterested observer.

The owners and administrators of FT are far wiser than me, and if they are comfortable with this 'flavor' of CC, that's perfectly fine.

However, in the interest of 'truth in advertising', maybe a name change for the forum should be considered, as "coupons" per se seem to play a minuscule role in CC as it exists in August 2009.

For the record, I agree with this and do my deals similarly. But isn't talking about 'competition for an object' a capitalistic description that is likely against the ethos of CC?

And then of course, I also wonder about the few FTers who put in their offer that they will ONLY respond to members who put a YHPM in their thread. So basically they are saying 'I know I can't bump this thread every 3 hours, so I'll force you to do it for me! (And in the process, create more competition for the very item that you are interested in.)

I can't see the coupon connection forum any more. not even Randy's post that things are going to change, which I could still see this morning. Have the criteria for viewing it changed or has it simply been put off line?

don't worry, Friday has 24 hours in it and i'm using most of them! Had a particular issue that I did not want to change and needed to make sure that some other members understood my thoughts on that.

Will reopen by this evening and I'll supply my explanation of what we're all doing to make CC on FlyerTalk a forum we can all feel comfortable to use and enjoy as a reward for supporting the greater good of FlyerTalk.

Thanks and now I'll try my best to put my thoughts on screen and post them up somewhat shortly.
