ORP is made "read only"
FT administration has made ORP as "read only" for the next few weeks, since Randy is out of the office.
I don't agree with this decision! You are allowed to 1) read the threads and 2) edit your previous posts, but you CAN NOT 1) reply (post) on a current thread or 2) start a new thread.
True, the forum is called "Only Randy Petersen", but how often does Randy answer the query alone?
He may post a reply, but it may be something like "post # 47". The previous 46 posts are replies from other members.
I have made a query on ORP a few months back. The reply was made by Starwood Lurker who wrote " ... since Randy is away ... I'll answer your question ...", and provided me with my desired answer. This thread had 4 posts in total - 2 by me and 2 by Starwood Lurker .
I think that ORP should be reopened, so members can post and reply. If the question needs input from Randy, it can be done upon his return!

I'm not sure how this relates to TalkBoard. TB does not tell Randy how to run his forums.

This is not an appropriate topic for the Talkboard.
I will close and move this to the ORP Forum.
If a member has a problem with Randy's decision, they need to take it up with him privately.

Well, I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I've heard from far too many members who post here that do want to hear what i have to say about something without interference from others. I'd actually like to answer all the queries myself but it's real difficult when as you point out, there are 46 other people in front on my line. I think the point is that if you want to hear what others have to say, then post it in a forum where others can reply. If you want to hear my opinion on a particular topic, then post it here. Seems reasonable enough to me.
But it is less about that than the idea that allowing the forum open all the time means that when i do have a chance to answer a question, i must now wade through the plethora of others things first and that usually takes a lot more time.
But, it's ok that we seem to disagree on this particular issue, is there something in particular you wanted to ask of me?
Thanks.
Randy
P.S. I don't know if you had a chance to read through this thread as it is related to the topic you are posting about:

I fully understand I can never please all the members all the time but do hope we are all united in the single hope that FlyerTalk is invaluable for information about frequent flyer programs.
