QANTAS as an acronym
Off-topic, but isn't QANTAS an acronym for "Queensland and Northern Territories Airways System" or some such?

Counsellor - you are on the right track. Fairly close. So as not to derail this thread please see:

So this curious urban myth spread around about only the past "5" dings showing is it seems ....... just an urban myth? Please stick with your email promise Randy .... and go for 100 past dings/pings/dongs per account is my vote. ^^^^ Well into Monday here, so this next 48 hours should be interesting to say the least. |
Reputation currently shows 5 posts

Personally, I'm with Oz and San Diego on this - I'd like to see ALL of my feedbacks and their sources, even if only for a week or so (for the benefit of any other member who feels likewise), after which week the setting could be set back to 5 in order not to tax the board's resources. YMMV.

Ozstamps, you have me confused.
I can understand why Anonplz and SanDiego1K would like to see all the past dings and I have no problem with that -- but it is running contrary to what you have been saying. You have repeatedly predicted two unhappy results of Monday's change: 1. A civil war on F/T as people become angered at those who dinged them. 2. An overload of Randy's mailbox and work schedule as he tries to deal with all the complaints. As is obvious to everyone, the more dings that are identified the stronger the possibility of these two things happening. If you are that concerned about them, why would you want all dings revealed? |

Well, let the show begin. :D [After all, I need some entertainment during my long connect times this week.] |
I agree SanDiego1k
I too would like to see all of the comments, at least for a while. At this point in the game, we (with the possible exception of ScottC) ;) all together probably don't have enough comments to slow down the system.

I can't believe how absolutely out of control (IMO) the whole reputation issue has gotten. While I can certainly understand the situation where Punki (and others?) have had someone else sign their name to a ding given...wanting to know who's behind that because (again IMO) it's just not right to do such a thing... But perhaps (again, IMO) that is something that should've been handled between Randy and the parties involved? How many threads are there now throughout FT re reputation? I'm not sure one could keep up with them all if they wanted to. Or like the positive points conga that was started in a spirit of fun...anyone want to take a guess at how many negative points were doled out over that one?
I have several blings & dings out there from the first couple weeks that are unsigned as I didn't realize at that time that they were anonymous (thinking that it would post your username, again as someone else mentioned, similar to ebay)...heck, I wasn't sure where to even find the ones that were given to me (or if I even had enough points to affect someone else). Since then I've made it a point to sign. Although that said, I really don't care who's made the negative dings toward me and won't be going back to look at them. If I disable the reputation feature, will it no longer show the comments made to me? If so, maybe I'll just disable it tonight. I gave up a while back worrying about who at FT thinks what about me... In a "community" of this size it is human nature that not everyone is going to like all those present or get along. I know the type of person I am (and the type of person I'm not) and there are very few people here who know me well enough to make a comment about me that would make me question myself. I don't need to establish a certain level of reputation points, or a number of green boxes next to my name, or a stack of comments to figure it out. I do tend to agree with Ozstamps that the "unveiling" on Monday is going to cause some level of chaos within the FT community. Whether it will be at Randy's level or simply between members privately or between members on the board remains to be seen; from what I've read on some of the threads it won't be pretty. Hopefully it won't end up being something that involves Randy and his resources any more than it already has (especially at a time like this week with the Freddies taking place and the House of Miles is likely in chaos just worrying about that -- and then on top of it, not only has Randy had to deal with the change from the old BB format to the new format and the problems that were experienced during the first couple weeks, but now all the BS going on over here on this subject  ). As someone else mentioned, it's too bad the whole reputation thing wasn't just left in the bucket with the avatars, etc. The conflict it is (and will be) causing is not worth the lack of harmony in a "community" which was created for the sharing of knowledge that we all have and I'd hate to see us lose the privilege. :( |

I honestly hope for your own sake that you didn't mean it. |
