In the days of the "wild west" everyone wore guns and defended themselves. Effective policing (sheriffs, marshals) stopped that.
Every attempt to take the high road with FT flamers (offers to delete inflammatory posts, stop making them, etc.) has been met with either no return gesture, or an accusation of self-righteousness.
Flyertalk is in its wild west period. You and I are not to blame if we defend ourselves from attacks. I have vowed to retaliate for each and every one, and plan to keep that vow, until we have effective policing (moderating).
But, sadly, that is still off the topic of this thread, except for that fact that IMHO it is Flyertalk's single biggest issue now, and the so called Talkboard (who's membership includes and/or included some of the worst offenders) has not addressed it.

So there will effectively be no "peace" then - at least while you remain on the FT boards?
May I most respectfully and humbly suggest that you review and re-evaluate your position!
The "rules"/TOS surely apply to ALL FT'ers and "two wrongs do not make a right", IMHO!

I've followed the FT boards pretty closely and I have yet to EVER observe you "flame" anyone, at any time, anywhere, PG!
Have I perhaps missed something?
Nonetheless, I greatly appreciate your very well intentioned suggestion above for a no questions asked type of "cease fire"

It is really awful to see how the lack of enforcement of common decency brings out the worst in people, going for the person instead of the issue.
I hope this will change, I work to make it change, and I hope it will change soon.
Quite frankly, even though FT consists of so many wonderful people, several of whom I have had the priveledge and opportunity to meet in person, I must admit, that the totally unacceptable behaivor by several "FT'ers" is getting close to the limit.
If it does not stop soon, somebody will toss the towel in the ring and go on live his life, happily, he has a life outside this forum, unlike some sad souls.

The thing that really freaks me out is that even though some of the fanatics actually have lives outside FT (for some including spouses and children) they still don't seem to have a life outside of FT! I just don't get it!?

As you can see from my # of posts, I'm new to FT but I share the same frustrations (and at the same time the love for the site) that you "Elders" have voiced as to the structure/leadership of the Board.
I have many opinions and observations but will keep them to myself right now as I watch the whole thing continue to unfold.
