Hi Himeno - I will give it a try on IE - have been using Chrome, will see if IE helps - thanks for the suggestion.

I use Avant set to default to the Mozilla/Firefox kernel. The tool doesn't work unless I change the setting to the IE kernel.

Yes I've been experiencing this intermittently (in both IE and chrome). Generally find it won't work until next time I'm online. Just closing browser and starting again doesn't fix it. :(

Yes finding the same - have tried now with IE as well as Chrome and same issue, will just keep trying.

To originate your oneworld Explorer itinerary on Qatar Airways please contact your Travel Agent or Qatar Airways http://www.qatarairways.com/contactus."

On a separate (or possibly related) note, I've got an itinerary in the tool that goes SSH-AMM-DME-xDOH-IAH . . . HKG-JED but the tool says it's incomplete, wanting to return me to SSH. Is this a bug or have I done something wrong?

Does anyone know if this has now changed. I cannot find that note on the OneWorld booking tool (unless I am looking in the wrong place). However, if I choose an itinerary with QR as the first leg out of South Africa - fyi CPT - DOH, on the odd occasion that the on-line booking tool actually works long enough for me to select a flight the only options it brings up are CPT-PLZ-JNB-DOH or CPT-DUR-JNB-DOH (even after having spoken to QR who have confirmed that D class is available on the direct CPT-DOH service).

skunker Feb 11, 2014 12:42 pm

Has anyone noticed a pattern to the continous checking flight availability issue? I've tried different starting and ending points, number of continents, and browsers, but it still seems to crap out on the last legs, usually with two left.

I've tried clearing all cookies and cache, starting over, rebooting and nothing seems to fix it or make it possible to actually use the tool.

Answered my own question - when I tried to use the on-line tool using JNB-DOH for the first sector the warning triangle came up saying if you want to start your itinerary with QR you need to contact your travel agent or QR - and the same if you want to start your journey with MH.

Wasabi Tofu Feb 27, 2014 11:37 pm

When QR/MH are one of candidates of 1st segment, the online tool seems not to work.

I tried.
(1)
HND-HKG-YVR-LHR-JNB-HKG-HND (all flights can be selected and price quoted).

(2)
Same route with a different origination
JNB-HKG-HND-HKG-YVR-LHR-JNB
Seatching a flight for JNB-HKG doesn't finish.
In (1), the tool shows CX(s direct flight and QR's connecting flight via DOH.

As the previous poster mentioned, 1st segment has warning 2600 about MH/QR starting itinerary restriction.
IMHO, that causes this issue.

Himeno Feb 28, 2014 1:49 am

I contacted oneworld about why many codeshare (both oneworld operated and marketed codeshares) do not appear in the timetable/booking tool.
I have yet to hear back after a week.

In my dealings with the support desk it has taken several weeks to hear anything. Then, after you reply it takes a couple more weeks. It is almost pointless.

Struggles with the RTW Booking Site?

I have been struggling lately with the booking engine at rtw.oneworld.com. It seems for the past week or so, I can plan a trip but once I start selecting flights - the second segment and beyond it just "stops". I have tried multiple browsers, multiple computers and it just stops.

Has anyone else had any problems with the site?

Problems booking a DONE4 ex CAI

Is it just me and my inexperience or is anyone else having problems booking an itinerary through the Oneworld Planner? I'm trying to run the following itinerary:
CAI-NRT-SYD-NOU-SYD-AKL-SYD-JFK-DFW-ANC-DFW-MEX-ORD-LHR-FCO-AMM (checking on Mileage Monkey for distance, it advises this it is valid) but the online tool won't let me select a flight ex CAI - just goes away and thinks about it until I hit cancel. So I tried originating in Tokyo just to check that I didn't have too many sectors and look at what flights were available, and that worked until I got to the SYD/NY flights where, again, the tool just wouldn't load the flights. I've tried loading the planner in Safari, Firefox and Chrome (I use a Mac OSX, V10.7.5) but nothing works.
I just wanted to get a ballpark pricing and an idea of what flights were available so I could ring and book the itinerary through the AA Desk, then pay for the tickets by credit card with Emeco Travel in Cairo.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else and if so, any suggestions on how to deal with it?

This forum has a thread for people to report their problems with the tool. At least one person seems to have a similar problem today:

Same problems....

I too am seeing the same booking site problem. I can't get it to pick a flight beyond the second segment. FRUSTRATING as it has been like this for over a week...

I can't even find a contact for oneworld support on the website. Ug.

As I pointed out before [post #330]
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22433686-post330.html

if your itinerary includes QR flights as a candidate, the tool doesn't work.

So there's no way to use a Cairo origin on a DONE4 because QR flies that route?

It is buried in the FAQs part of the site. If you click on the 'contact' link in the general page footers, it takes you to a page listing contacts for member airlines.

You need to go to the FAQs page (Home - News & information - Frequently asked questions) and click the link to "enquiry form".

I've tried on numerous occasions to speak with someone at OW re the tool and have gotten nowhere. Gold doubloon (imaginary) to the first FTer who makes progress on this front.

I got replies when oneworld HQ was in Vancouver, but since they moved to New York...:(

Oh, how do I claim my doubloon???? I have received support through the website for problems related to QR flights not being available and the inconsistency of not getting bumped up to first on the intra-GCC flights. Both were resolved; I'll take credit. ;)

Not necessarily. Just enter a city between CAI and NRT on your routing such as LHR or AMM. You can take QR later on your trip, just not the first leg.

It's already in your doubloon account. Don't get greedy. :p

Well considering I can't get LHR-DFW to give me options I am thinking it is beyond just a QR route issue...

By choosing AMM the tool will balk when it tries to get AA to issue the ticket on RJ's behalf, and by flying first to LHR you'll incur BA fuel fines for the whole shebang. Then, by ending in AMM (even though the rules say you can end in another country in the Middle East) the tool is likely to give you the Jordanian base price and not the Egyptian - another known glitch.

Phone the AA desk and have them generate a price. It's free until you pay.

What airport code is FUBAR?

Himeno Apr 5, 2014 8:42 pm

Is anyone else having issues with the date range available for selecting flights?
The old version of the tool allowed flight selection out ~11 months ahead. The new one is only letting me pick flights out to mid August (~4 months).

Old version? I was in the tool 10 minutes ago and I'm still able to pull a calendar up for 11 months into the future.

It was only loading the calendar through August when I opened an existing booking. Starting a new one gave the full range.
Either way, it never got past the loading flights stage, so didn't load the flight selection window anyway.

If you are working off a saved itinerary, or adjusting flights in the middle of an itinerary when later flights are already selected, then the tool limits the dates you can select.

Sometimes I have to delete some airports from the itinerary and re-add them to get the flight lookup to bring up all the dates possible without restriction.

skunker Apr 10, 2014 12:40 pm

Anybody notice there are cities with scheduled service that do not show up on the RTW tool? One is of particular interest for those willing to try booking with QR.

Himeno Apr 10, 2014 8:11 pm

The flight selection is working for me again...
It still isn't showing a large amount of codeshares, which expert flyer says exist and are available.

Himeno Apr 10, 2014 9:43 pm

I tried asking AA for help (since I'm trying to book AA coded flights and no one appears to have heard anything from oneworld). They seemed confused, thinking I was asking about AA site when I clearly said oneworld booking tool. All they could offer was 'contact oneworld support' (again). :/

Did you call the RTW desk or the regular reservation line?

Can't. They'll try to price/ticket for US. I need a ticket priced and issued from Japan.

Not if you tell them it's for ticketing in Japan. They'll queue the PNR to Japan for the actual sale. I've done this on more than one occasion, including my fastest-ever transit of NRT. Off plane, past surgical mask-wearing immigration officer, up to ticketing level, 15 min. with giggling AA counter agents, through security and straight to the AA lounge. Badda bing.

Agreed...I do the same thing. I just tell the AA Agent that I am going to ticket it with AA in Japan. Never been a problem since I start all my RTW flights in NRT.

Is there any agents in Japan who would ticket over the internet?
If not, how long would the ticket be held for before needing to be paid/issued?
