xONEx online tool bugs thread

This thread is to bring into one place reported bugs for the xONEx online tool.

It is not for more general questions such as which airline to ticket with and how to use the tool more efficiently. For those kind of questions, please refer to the main xONEx online tool thread or the xONEx FAQ.

The online tool is a bit buggy. I've had battles with it when it only finds a codeshare (and is happy to let me select that despite no connecting flight with that airline) and cannot find the operating airline. Trying again the next day the situation is reversed. Similarly flights which the ow website tells me exist through flight lookup, the RTW tool cannot find.

Rather annoying.

That's helpful...

Anyone else getting this error? It worked fine for me yesterday, but not today...

It gave me an error code which I will call on

Trying to book a LONE4 out of AKL with first sector AKL-SYD on AA for lower fuel fines and the quote comes back from AA in USD only and not NZD. Base fare quote is way above 3799NZD eqivalent.

Try the same LONE4 out of MEL with first sector MEL-SYD on AA and it comes back from AA in AUD.

JanoSicek Jan 23, 2009 4:50 am

I try to book LHR-LAX, and on dates that I see availability L3 in EF, the booking tool offers no availability on AA. On dates with L7 it works.

EDIT: I just found out that Seatcounter says L0. So probably it is not fault of online tool :/

Don't forget availability tools are just a guide as other constraints may apply. Eg point of sale, married segments, etc.

jphripjah Jan 25, 2009 3:20 pm

I keep geting timed out after hitting "Book now" to book a LONE5 ex-Auckland. The error message says "The booking engine could not be contacted. Input string was not in the correct format."

Also, I think the online booking tool automatically gives a red warning disqualifier if you try to fly into Heathrow and out of Gatwick (or vice versa) with less than six hours to make the transfer.

Given the hassles and time needed for transfers between LHR and LGW I would want several hours to make the connection.

Agreed, but the six hour requirement seems overly conservative.

serfty Jan 25, 2009 5:38 pm

The MCT for LGW to LHR connections is 3 hours. Even then, this is tight.

Not picking up illegal AS flights when codeshared - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/11178569-post15.html

I'd consider the fact that I cannot pay for my ticket on line when directed to BA for an ex-JNB fare to be a bug. A dummy booking with the CX JNB-HKG flight first appears to allow credit card payments online.

This message is after I've validated, checked the fare + taxes, confirmed availability, entered traveller details.

Edited to add, I've gotten incorrect quotes on a few sample itineraries now. Of course all are higher (some only by a few $ and others several % higher) than the fare listed on the main webpage at oneworld.com

Still unable to book, and as of yet no response to the online feedback form.

Have you heard back from OW yet on this issue? I am getting the same message.

What is the point of this wonderful tool if it doesn't work??

Kiwi Flyer Feb 25, 2009 12:59 pm

I got a response from OW several days later saying one of the flights must be unavailable. As I'd checked availability just before submitting that means the availability check has a bug, if the answer was correct. I've had no answer to that.

As the airline I wanted to ticket with has no local ticketing at origin, I've been forced to use a travel agent (even with their fee still less than ticketing with other airline thanks to YQ).

Himeno Feb 26, 2009 12:17 am

H class fares (JL Domestic Economy to/from NRT) are causing an error message on submit.

It seems to be a problem when an AA codeshare is the first flight. I ended up re-routing and taking the YQ hit and ticketing through CX and it all worked a charm.

Maybe this is AA trying to disuade us from ticketing through them unless from the US? ;)

Kiwi Flyer Feb 26, 2009 10:37 am

I have no AA flights on my itinerary, codeshare or otherwise. AA isn't the only airline with low YQ ;)

Well maybe maybe not
I just paid via TA for a LONE4 exAustralia
quoted on QF stock as about AU$670 taxed
paid on AA stock about AU$920 including YQ of $591

3 QF 1 CX and 10 AA flights

A bit unhappy wandering. Though one of the VIPs has already been applied.... And I didn't have to go through the reissue hassle....

update
I was trying to book 3 & 2 children.

When I split the reservation into two: adults // 1 adult & 2 children then I was able to book.

My first segments were ICN-NRT-USA booked into AA Amadeus.

"Please Wait..." spinny

Am I going about this the wrong way? I'm trying to book a DONE4 ex-ICN. I run the OneWorld Planner, put in all the segments, and it says "Congratulations, your Round the World itinerary is fully validated and ready for you to book". So I click the "Review" button and it pops up a list of the segments. I change the drop-down at the top of this pop-up from "Plan a Round the World Itinerary" to "Plan and Book" and it puts up a small "Please wait..." with a spinny. And that's it. Nothing more happens. So far, I've tried it on FireFox 3 on a Mac laptop, Safari 3 on a Mac desktop, and IE 6 on a Windows box. I've let it sit overnight, and the message with spinny is still there in the morning.

Kiwi Flyer Mar 15, 2009 1:08 pm

Just enter the tool using the plan & book option. You can always exit without booking if you want to, but it has the advantage of checking availability on the fly.

anabolism Mar 15, 2009 2:19 pm

"Plan" vs "Plan and Book"

I started out with "Plan and Book" instead of "Plan", and it won't show me the same flights that "Plan" did, I suppose because some flights haven't released D space this far in advance (I'm booking for Jan/Feb 2010)?

Also, "Plan and Book" doesn't have the search for flights drop-downs for preferred carrier and desired time, which can make it hard to find flights when there are many possibilities.

I can not open the oline tools as every time it showed I need to download Flash Player 6.0. I had the software installed for ten times now. Still show the same message. I used the online tool last month to book a ticket already!!! Very annoying. I had cleared cookies as well. Did not work. I think I may have to dump my laptop!

Oneworld .com RTW Booking Tool

Seems the booking tool is having problems. It reviews my itinerary & says its valid then when it trys to book it it says none of the sectors are available when I know from ExpertFlyer they are!

Not had this problem before.

I've been having the same problem. Only fix I have found is exiting Firefox and then go back to the booking tool. Works fine then. Annoying but not the end of the world.

Expert Flyer availability is not necessarily definitive. Airlines apply restrictions by point of sale, married segment logic, sub booking class limits (eg while there may be D available they may limit to 2 RTW fares on a certain flight - if they've already been used then no availability for you), etc. In most cases it should be reasonable match though.

Minor bug:
When I have two cities as O/D that require a connection, and when I click on "Show Details" for the selected flights, it shows mini-tabs for "Summary", "Leg 1" and "Leg 2". The error is that "Flight Duration" for Leg 1 is always "00h 00m" and the duration for Leg 2 is the total travel time.

SLF Apr 9, 2009 12:47 am

I'm trying to book 2 adults+2 children, and get the following at the top of the traveller details page. No idea how I'm supposed to fix this, what it really means, or which flights it applies to! Oddly, the pricing at the bottom does show the expected difference for the child fares

The following warning(s) occured

* For the standard fare, we could not find fares for the following passenger types, so the system has chosen the next best fare option. (7058 - 2100)
o Child (2-11)
On the traveller details page, there is a check-box to let it remember the passenger details, however it only seems to remember pax #1's detail, meaning the others have to be re-entered.

After re-entering the details, I then get:

The following error(s) occured

* We are not able to confirm your selected flights. Please resubmit your request. (15079)
This has sort of been a spur of the moment thing...I have been too busy to think much about taking advantage of the sale, but it looks like I'll miss out. Oh well.

SLF Apr 9, 2009 1:02 am

"Help"

If I click the Help link in the top right corner of the Plan&Book tool, I get a 404 error page :(

http://www.oneworld.com/ow/404?nf=%2...y-planner-help

24.05.2004 Apr 9, 2009 5:49 am

not really a bug

Ok, this is really a bug, but certainly a peeve. Why doesn't the itinerary show the miles per segment? PITA to go look up the segment miles to plug into my spreadsheet!

Hugh Apr 10, 2009 11:21 pm

Is anyone else getting an error message, after hitting "book now", saying that the booking engine could not be contacted?

RTW4 Apr 11, 2009 4:13 am

I also have had problems.. but then I return within 15 minutes and all is well and booking can be made..

I get exactly the same response. I thought it might have been my payment details or something similar, but it doesn't look to be that way.

Is there any other way to get this done other than physically being present at an AA desk? My problem is that I'm trying to book ex-ICN and of course, the AA GSA doesn't take CC details over the phone...

Also - the tool appears to time out when trying to find flights on DFW-ANC/ANC-DFW on AA during summer, despite apparent availability on other sites.

SLF Apr 12, 2009 5:32 am

Welcome to FT djfuzz :)

It seems flights disappear from the Choose Flight list when inventory is unavailable; it would be nice to have them indicated as unavailable - otherwise you wonder where a flight is that is shown in the downloadable timetable.

With Choose Flight it would be nice to have an option to restrict the search to the airport you chose, excluding other co-terms in a city.

The tool seems constrained by how far ahead you can choose dates; it looks to be about a year but may vary by airline. With an RTW easily containing flights more than a year ahead, and the fact that no open segments are permitted; it means that you have to select wrong dates within the 12 month period and presumably phone up to move them after ticketing is done. Open segments would be useful here to fix this.

Kiwi Flyer Apr 12, 2009 9:54 pm

My understanding is the plan option looks at schedules regardless of availability, while the plan & book option looks at schedules & availability.
