BA previously had their own lounge, but closed it. They now use the newish NW one (opened early last year I believe).

Ah. Shows how long it has been since I've been down that end of the terminal (since SQ relocated to the *A satellites)

The BA situation at NRT is rather mysterious to me. BA refused to move terminals, when the rest of OW moved ... so AA, QF and CX left (and built/are building new lounges in the OW terminal) while BA stayed behind ... presumably to keep their somewhat expensive Terraces lounge there. And BA promptly closed that lounge, and now uses the NW lounge on a contract basis. Rather surprising that they will allow OW benefits in a contract lounge, but perhaps it was part of a deal with the airport. But BA is now so inconvenient at NRT that it simply isn't worth considering using.

I'm interested in the outcome of this thread because I will be travelling exactly the same route in exactly the same way in May. (Award ticket. If I was paying, I would go through HKG). BA's site say they have a Terraces Lounge in NRT, so they will arrange access to something. Not necessarily the best though. Does anyone know from experience whether it is possible to use the oneworld First lounges at NRT when you are travelling on a BA flight to LHR?

The OW lounges are in a different terminal and its a bit of a pain to get between terminals at NRT. It may technically be possible but you won't want to try it.

Its bizzare to me that BA did not move when AA and CX did.

If BA wasn't interested in building another lounge in T2, they could of just contracted to use one of the many oneworld lounges in T2....JL, CX, AA, or QF. The lounge in HKG is jointly operated between QF/BA. I'm sure they could of done the same arrangements at NRT.

I once asked somebody at Narita about this and was told that being in T1 saved 10-15 min taxi time to and from the main runway. Given that BA always use 744 aircraft to Narita they will always be landing/taking off from the main runway so I guess this is significant to them.

Probably, CDMA network is available.
I was in JL & NH lounges last year & they had clearly stated that no mobile phones are allow to turn on, so definitely no voice call in & out are allow, I had seen some passengers turn those phones into vibrate mode & start typing SMS. This rule also applicable to the train as well.

Another thing is Japan NTT DoCoMo is using their own system such as PDC, FOMA, KDDI is using CDMA2000, & only SoftBank (Previously own by Vodafone) is using W-CDMA 3G system which is available thru out European countries & Asian countries.

Japan has no GSM nor CDMA network.

Travel on CX J NRT to HKG

we will fly NRT to HKG with the family as part or our trip - all in J - on CX. From what I gather and read here and on OW, we will be able to use either the AA, CX or JAL (Sakura) lounges. Also, since my flight will depart at 18:30, the QF lounge should be open to use also - for a short time....my question, which lounge is better for food and liquor/Wine/Champange. would also like to have a shower as we will have been out and about for the day in Tokyo before leaving...

any issues being granted access at any of these given the OW rules based on COT in J on CX? i do not like having to read out rules etc. to dragons....

thoughts on those who have been to all are appreciated....

i guess you could do the same in HKG, but from what I gather, the best lounges are CX in any event on our way to NRT...

QF lounge at NRT now opens quite a bit earlier than it used to as it is used as contract lounge by several airlines ^ Downside is the lounge is no longer quiet

Does anyone know if I will be eligible to use the lounge for departing domestic passengers in terminal one of Tokyo Narita if I am flying ANA's domestic first class (what they call "premier class") from Narita to Nagoya?

Just for the record...my last two visits to the JL F lounge this year found the club to start getting busy around mid afternoon. Wonderfully tranquil with lots of free space before then.
