I'd probably go for QF F. There have been some concerned comments about the standard of the catering and service out of Bangkok on BA in F over the last year. QF are also rolling out some minor positive enhancements to their F product over the next few months, so you may be able to take advantage of these.
Often when choosing between BA and QF alot of it comes down to your personal preference between the service styles of both airlines. As a generalisation, BA tends to be more formal than QF, with both airlines equally professional.

I've been avoiding BKK due to the mess of the new airport. It is slowly getting better, but still worth avoiding. In past years catering out of BKK was very erratic. They would run out of some ingredients and improvise, invariably substituting something much cheaper. No other city did this, it was a BKK problem, and it happened on both BA and QF. Things like J wines in F, for example. Also by design BKK-SYD has a lighter meal service than LHR-BKK (as it is a shorter leg, many pax are going through and don't touch their food); so pax originating at BKK get short-changed to some extent. QF with the new J/F service starting March 25 should have a significant edge over BA; even without the new service I think QF has been consistently superior to BA this year (at least in F).

BA was markedly superior 5 years ago, then QF improved with some specific and mostly successful initiatives, while BA has declined (a lot in some areas, a little in others). Now QF is better, and has future improvements lined up (such as the A380 premium config) while BA only has T5 at LHR and seems to be relying on that as the cure for all ills. Many of the problems at BA seem to be avoidable and are made worse by some management decisions.
