Reinstating deleted segments on a ONE itinerary
I unfortunately missed a flight (SCL-IPC) on my AONE5 ticket and due to completely booked planes on this route I was unable to reschedule it within the next week. This had implications for the next 5 or so segments and so I decided to return to do the Easter Island and following segments in June. After missing the flight, I immediately phoned the AA RTW desk and asked them to make this segment and the next 5 segments open dated with the plan to fix June dates next month. To check up a couple of days later, I have just gone on-line and found that instead of making these segments open dated, all of them have been completely eliminated from my itinerary on AA.com. Currently being in the Atacama I wont have phone access until returning to Santiago later in the week. In the mean time, my question is whether this is going to be an easy matter to deal with. Also, I have been assuming that I can fly the SCL-IPC segment later even though I did not notify AA RTW desk about this until the missed plane had taken off. Thanks for any advice.

Missing the flight does not invalidate the coupon, these are fully flexible fares (one of the big advantage of OWE). Not showing on aa.com doesn't mean that they are not in your PNR, aa.com has some bugs when it comes to displaying some state changes and more exotic conditions; I bet they are still there and visible on a real CRS (e.g. at the airport or by an agent). Best to verify that with another call to RTW desk, or maybe even aa.com customer request would work if you don't have phone access but apparently have internet access (what is the world coming to?). In any case it is an easy matter to fix.

An itinerary is a record of your reservations, not of your ticket. Your ticket still has valid coupons with no reservation corresponding to them. This may be easier to resolve with a paper ticket than an e-ticket, but either way you should be fine.

I had the problem in reverse, when I no-showed for some AA flights on a BA-issued DONE4. The BA systems seemed to think that I had flown those segments, but it was fairly easily straightened out as I had a paper ticket. I don't know how it would have worked with an e-ticket, but I have become more assiduous in avoiding being a no-show.

I have just had the same experience with BA. To make matters worse, because it was the last segment on the ticket I can't even access my itinerary on checkmytrip.com!
It may all be academic because I never intended to fly that segment and may decide not to reissue with another segment. But I will be interested in what happens with AA, ReelChief.
