If you go to checkmytrip , does it show the FF number to be in there as

British Airways - AAxxxxxx

Dave

MMB shows:
Frequent Flyer Programme - American Airlines
Frequent Flyer Number - XXXXXXX

I put the FF number in myself (around Dec 20), as the travel agent failed to do it. Given the travel agent did not manage to put in my FF number, I don't suppose they would have much success in taking it out either.:(

The first Exec Club agent I spoke to said they could not see my status, the second did not know that OWs got the same privileges.

Hopefully the agent could do it; I am surprised that BA said that they could not touch the FF number; 1st of all I would try the approach of ringing back and seeing if they can do it.

bit of a bug there with the MMB if it isnt picking up status I would say

Bugs

Firstly, well done on complaining and getting the business class end of things opening up. As someone who became QF only "enhanced" when BA withdrew from Australia, then it is of concern, as I still run with the QF programme.

As an indication, I do at least 100 BA shorthauls a year, mainly in Y, but the ability to access exit rows, Row 1C/D and the A/C only Y row at the front is well worth it to me. I admit to not noticing the policy change because I have other ways of getting my preferred seat selection on BA.

It is certainly the case that the A/C side in club and economy row one are preferable.

As for status recognition on BA, I have found that the system KNOWS that I am Emerald when I give it my QF Plat number. I do not have to tell it anything else, it will check. This stops me from declaring Chairman's Lounge status. It is also useful in debates with the Lounge Dragons when QF do not send the damn cards out early enough at the end of renewal year. Lounge Dragons can check your status quite easily, if only they knew the keystrokes.

I guess that the other reason that I have not noticed the transit change is that I rarely book flights any significant distance in advance.

Oneworld Ruby elites

I finally got an answer from BA and it turns out, as suspected, that Ruby flyers do not have any pre-selection when it comes to seating.

I just hope a seat on the UD is available at T-23:59!

Another update....

Seems BA have still not fixed their system in respect to Economy short haul seating for Emeralds/Sapphires. :(

It is working for me. Have you confirmed with BA that your status is reflected in the booking

Dave, did you make your own booking on ba.com?

Yes!

Did a miles booking 2 days ago and of course CSA asked for my BA FF number to deduct the miles, this got entered into the booking and theres no way to change it now, online the option to enter a FF number is greyed out for me, however it did allow me to alter my wifes BA FF number to an AA FF number but no status shows for her.

I rang BA to get mine altered, and, after confirming my OW Sapphire status did show up to her she could not enter it into the booking and thus allow me to choose my seats.

Finally she said she would send the info to some other department for the problem to be fixed.

There is every way to get this fixed. I did the same as you but, thankfully, dealt with a competent agent who knew how to enter the primary (BA) card number, while also entering (higher status) QF number to booking for seating purposes. I believe Dave might've posted the magic phrase to help them find the right field - if so probably worth posting here (sorry if I'm misquoting, am sure it was you)

The BA Executive Club desk said that the system does not recognize my FF number as elite.

As the booking was made by a travel agent, the Executive Club say they can't make any changes.

I have "refreshed" my FF number in MMB to no avail, and there is no option to delete and reinsert it.

I hope this is not a consistent problem when I have to book through my corporate travel agent.:(

I made a BA Eurotraveller booking on aa.com, and BA recognized my status. But another Worldtraveller booking by my travel agent was not recognized, and I did not fancy a middle seat on a long haul (that is a major benefit of having status!).

I tried emailing, but was told I would have to phone the Executive Club. Initially they gave me the brush off again, but I persisted, and after two long holds the agent said that she would contact the OneWorld help line. And they fixed it! :)

So from my experience, if you put in your own AA FF number it is not recognized, and the only fix is to ask for the BA OneWorld help line (or presumably a knowledgeable agent) to fix it.

It's worth sending a PM to BA Nick about this: BA's official 'unofficial' seating lurker. He seems to take bugs like this pretty seriously, but see here should you wish to check claim out:

Is there a way to get BA.com MMB to recognize an AAvantage number without the long and multiple calls to BA? I've read through pages and pages of threads on BA seat policy, but I can't find any actual recommended steps.

And a 60 minute phone call to BA had me drive to TIA where the BA agent spent 90 minutes issuing my ticket, I am in no hurry to call them again!

In my LHR-NBO-LHR itinerary for next week, my AAdvantage number appears, but the "At the Airport" test doesn't make any reference to lounge access (hence it doesn't recognize my status) and any attempt to do seat selection gets a "at check-in" response.

You could try calling the Executive Club and saying "My frequent flyer number is not being recognized, but I've been told that the OneWorld help line can fix this".
