Real J Class in Europe
I just read in the other post that you can fly on LA from FRA-MAD in REAL J Class on the 340.
Are there any other flights in Europe operate by LA or other airlines that offer real J Class.
Planning my DONE4 again and this time I am going to MAX out the miles as much as I can. Hope to get 75,000 Club Miles for CX!
At the moment the routing:
BKK-HKGx-JFK-SFO-IAH(or DFW if I buy a countyr pass to IAH)-BOS-DFW-LAXorSFO-LHR-DXB-LHR-HKGx-AKL-SYD-PER-MEL//SYD-AKL-HKG-NRTorCTS-HKG-BKK
However I am willing to trade in some of the US MR sectors with some of these nice European sectors.

Well it depends when it is, but apparently CX is planning to extend their BAH flight to BEY so that would be a good, albeit short-ish one. It was reported in the SCMP recently that they now have the relevant permissions to do this.

There aren't any others in Europe in the present schedule once you do LHR-DXB-LHR (BA has other long-haul using 767/777 but they are excluded by DXB). AA does operate 777 domestically and sells the F seats as D, twice a day DFW-MIA and once a day ORD-DFW. Used to also be LAX-DFW but not sure if that is still operating, so that is another way -- to get real international F which is considerably better than international J on LA even if you get the coffin config. As for maximizing your mileage, you can add at least 5K to it by optimizing the US portion (something like JFK-SJU-LAX-DFW-ANC-DFW-LAX) but presumably you had reasons for visiting those specific cities in that sequence.

Also comfort wise is a consideration. THe DFW-ANC is like 6 hours and one sector is a Red Eye on it!! As my schedule is tight (only around 2 weeks) so I don't want to come back like a wreck.
I was originally thinking instead of using 2 spare sectors (from the europe cont) on to the NA portion I might actually use it in Europe if they have these decent flights ie. FRA-MAD which earn reasonable miles with minimal effort and relatively comfortable.
In terms of MR value the LHR-DXB-LHR is already like 6000 miles in itself already (with cabin bonus it is around 6000). I don't think there are any european route that can beat that.

Was also thinking of doing LHR-MCT-LHR this year, but reckon I'll stick with the DXB run instead - it was a painless turnaround last year. MCT is a couple of hundred base miles longer each way, though.
Seriously recommend you switch to an AONE rather than DONE if you can. I had some cracking flights on CX/BA, and it does make these RTW MRs so much more comfortable...
So far my AONE4 is looking like:
(CX)CMB-HKG-NRT-HKG-JFK-(AA)SJU-LAX-DFW-SJO-DFW-SFO-(BA)LHR
-DXB-LHR-SYD-(QF)PER-MEL-AKL-SYD-(CX)HKG-CMB
Adds up to about 67k base miles and 95k with class bonuses! Still playing around with it - might buy in BKK rather than CMB if I'm feeling lazy. Let me know if you can spot any mistakes I may have made!

I am buying it from BKK as the cost of getting to CMB really outweights the savings and also the fuss.
I find AONE4 to be bad value as there are so many routes that do not offer real F Class now. (Around 3K more) and you get A Class anyway in USA. But it is good value if you max out more real F Class sectors and consiering it will cost a lot more in miles and $$ if you upgrade seperately.
For your routing I really think you should start in BKK as I just check the difference between the 2 is only around 900AUD, but remember CMB-HKG is only D Class (not F - so -1 for this). Also do note that you can ONLY stopover twice in Asia so presuming one of your HKG sectors is a transit?
In the USA you really should do a JFK-LAX in real P Class
On the HKG-JFK are u taking CX888 or 830? I travelled on 888 before in F Class and find the experience really nice (despite having to wait in YVR in a holding cell). Unless you are in a real hurry to get to JFK I would recommend you on CX 888 (you get more meals, more PJs and Amenity kits and also guarantee the crew will not be cranky after nonstop 14 hours +)
For DXB Last time we stayed a whole day (actually more than 40 hours as we stayed at the Burj Al Arab for 1 day and max out late check out and hang around @ the spa/pool/restaurants/private beach). The previous time I did the DXB I arrived @ 8am in the morning and then went to a cheap hotel (the terrible LE Meridien Al Sandos APARTMENTS - avoid this @ all cost) and slept till 4pm then went aroudn dubai and then head to the airport @ 11:30pm for the 2:30am flight! I feel DXB to be safer than MCT, but ont he MCT you do get to see ABU as well?? (Do you get an extra meal??)
Do you plan to use CX or AA to issue to ticket or a local agent?
Oh and ijgordon, you are right. Basically I am NOT using all the 4 european sectors (Just 2 - LHR-DXB-LHR) and then I can use a total of 5 sectors in the NA sectors. If i want to go somewhere in Europe I just buy a cheap N Class fare on BA or just the Oneworld Country Pass.
