A fan of SA also!
Some of my most memorable bucket list trips have been to South America: Easter Island, Machu Picchu, Uyuni Salt Flats, Iguazu Falls.
You can earn Avios and redeem flights with LATAM, but unfortunately you can't earn tier points with them (as far as I know)
Intra-South American flights can be expensive for foreigners, so some redemption flights is probably the way to go! (eg. LIM-CUZ for Machu Picchu, SCL-IPC for Easter Island etc)
Enjoy planning your trip and keep us updated!

It's been nearly 40 years since I was there, but a couple less-visited cities in Japan that I can recommend are Nagoya and Nagasaki (you might need to take some trains, but the train ride to Nagasaki is among the most picturesque I've ever taken!). Some highlights (assuming they're still available -- remember that 40 years caveat!):
- Nagasaki: huge market with every type of store imaginable; I picked up some piano and brass quintet music there.
- Nagasaki: old Dutch Quarter, which survived the worst of the bombing. Fascinating contrast in architecture with the rebuilt part of the city.
- Nagasaki: the Peace Park, of course. One of my most memorable experiences ever was when a Japanese gentleman wanted to take a picture of his family with the Americans at the memorial.
- Nagoya: the castle. Large enough to be interesting, small enough to not take all day.
- Nagoya: the NHK tower, for a nice view of the city.
- Nagoya: the Noritake factory and museum.
- Nagoya: at least back then, no airport departure tax!

Joni Mitchell put this perfectly in the best song ever written about travelling, on one of the best albums ever made, "Amelia", from "Hejira":
For what it's worth, I'd set a viable route, leave a bit of time in each place and you can do side trips and tours, and decide as you go along. I went round the world on low cost carriers a few years ago, and had an amazing time; I have another booked in F mostly on the back of a fare nufnuf77 pointed out, from Cairo. There's a thread on it somewhere for inspiration.
"People will tell you where they've gone
They'll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
And where some have found their paradise
Others just come to harm
Amelia, it was just a false alarm."
They'll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
And where some have found their paradise
Others just come to harm
Amelia, it was just a false alarm."

Thanks for the advice, Mwenenzi! You're right about starting outside the UK—I've been hearing that it's significantly cheaper. I’ll definitely look into starting my RTW from somewhere like Paris or Oslo instead. I’ve also heard that CAI (Cairo) can be a good option for cheaper prices.
.....
.....
The Egypt pound had a sudden significant devaluation. For a short period of time ex CAI OW RTW were very cheap in major currencies. Oneworld were (too) slow to change the base price ex CAI. Now fixed, so ex CAI not the bargain it was for a few weeks.

Sorry, but I'm literally not a bot. I'm just using AI to help improve my writing a bit since English is not my first language. I simply want to state my words in a more proper way.
It's been great learning a lot from this forum, and I really appreciate everyone's help in this thread.
Thanks everyone.

Hope your travels go well.
But I hope this has also been a useful lesson on when not to use AI writing tools. It's fine to use them to check text and give ideas for one shot professional communications, but for personal stuff it's best not to use them. Your authentic voice, complete with any spelling and grammatical errors, is appreciated much more!

RTWs can provide the opportunity to include some quite exotic destinations at zero or negligible marginal cost (it's a more or less fixed price product.) You might see it as a way not just to hit some "bucket list" places, but to see or experience locations that would otherwise be inaccessible due to cost or logistics. Back when Lan/Latam was a Oneworld member, Easter Island was such a destination (now unreachable with Oneworld metal) but there are many other remote or unique places that are. Arctic Alaska comes to mind, or places like little-known (outside Australia) Lord Howe Island. With Fiji Airways joining the alliance soon, and with Alaska Airlines acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, the number of Pacific island destinations will be expanded greatly. Royal Air Maroc opens numerous west African destinations that were previously difficult or impossible to reach; similarly the regional networks of carriers like Sri Lankan or Malaysian add lots of south- and southeast Asian points.
The point being, these products can be sources of inspiration for real adventure, not just a comfortable means of getting from London to Cape Town (lovely as that is.) So if your plan is to hit the road in 2025 or 2026, use the interim to study the route systems and compare that to your own travel and experience aspirations. RTWs can really be magic carpets.

This isn't a price maximization suggestion, but stopping in BSL (Basel, Switzerland) can allow you to see some really impressive museums. If you have a chance to go in June during Art Basel, you can see really impressive art installations.
I recently booked a GMP -> HND -> JFK -> EGE -> SAN -> EGE -> MIA -> EGE -> JFK -> LHR -> BSL -> LHR -> JMK -> LHR -> DOH -> ICN
