Any remaining distance-based programmes for OW RTW?

I have a RTW coming up (DONE4) ticketed by AA with Avios being accrued on BA. At time of booking this would have generated some 140k Avios (per speedbird.online) but with BA's switch to revenue-based, it will now generate maybe 54k (same source). I'm making a change in routing so presumably it will now be re-ticketed and the new rules will apply.

Are there other OW airlines which still have distance-based earning, and would it be worth it to use one of those for the journey, with a future points transfer back to Avios?

I guess a disadvantage would be that my OW Emerald status would not be shown, but as I'll be flying in Business anyway this is less of an issue.

Isn't QR still distance-based?

With regards to distance-based fights on a DONE4 , the AA program is all distance-based except for AA-BA-IB per Partner airlines – AAdvantage program – American Airlines

Noting the comments above I've dug further into the BA scheme and it seems the QR, AA and QF legs will remain on a distance basis. (Some wildly different numbers are coming back from their Avios calculator so we will have to see what actually happens though.)

Seems like an incentive for BA frequent flyer to avoid BA, which is presumably not their intention. I guess they are hoping that all the OW airlines move to price based models which would be a shame.

AA is doing the same thing. Better to fly partners unless on high $ fares.

You really asking which ffp's are not revenue based.

Revenue based ffp's have rules for other flights, where they do not know the cost.
AS QF and others distance based. QF is a poor ffp compared to others.
Some ffp's like AS, BA, QR and QF have "X own airline flights" for status rule. IB does not.
Generally ff miles/points cannot be moved to other ffp's.
*Only* the ffp's that use avios as the currency, can avios can be moved between these ffps. Status cannot be moved. BA IB IE and QR Qatar use avios. Next year AY will use avois and become revenue based.

-->Deciding on a Oneworld Frequent Flyer Program? Help is here.
After getting ff miles/points/avios from this this trip what is the objective?
From flying ff miles/points/avios are not equal to earn to burn between ffp's. However many credit cards transfer to ffp's at the same rate.

From above you have done the calculation for BAEC avios
Worth doing the avios calculation for QR and IB ffp's. May or may not get a different answer to BAEC
Unsure if having some flights to BAEC and other flights to another ffp would calculate out. Changing the ffn is possible, but does not always stick.

Just a note when looking at this topic , after the 1st of the year JL "D" yields a 150% class of service bonus when credited to the AA program.

Wow, that's great news. Looks like all JL business class fares are getting a nice bump, even domestic. Always wondered why it was the poorest JV earner in Aadvantage.

AS no longer require to have "X own airline flights" per following:

That certainly makes AS's program a lot more attractive for me if AA ever does something to make EXP unobtainable for me. Hard to say what the partner earning rates end up being with AS once the dust settles, but I'm pretty sure I can easily blow through their top tier qualification quite easily, much easier than AA actually but AA still works better for me overall, for the time being.

Out of interest, as I have a RTW DONE5 next year with a number of BA flights plus an AA Transcon, how do BA calculate the revenue cost and hence the Avios accrual for each of those sectors, as it is a fixed price base fare based on the origin?

As your question relates to earning in the BA Executive Club scheme it may be better directed to this thread in the BA forum:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...hanged-47.html

In the wiki for that thread is this:
How will I collect Avios on bookings where there is a combination of British Airways and partner airline marketed flights?
Flights marketed by British Airways or a partner airline that awards based on total eligible spend will collect Avios based on the pro-rated ticket price for those flights.

Flights marketed by other air partners will collect Avios, where applicable, based on how far you fly, the cabin you fly in and your Executive Club Tier level.

Thanks Jerry.

That’s allowed me to estimate (pro-ratering the ticket cost, minus taxes, per mile and then multiplying each leg) the sectors where BA or AA will be providing the service. Makes a big change on some segments, as per the thread OP, under the new rules, but it is what it is.

Fortunately, TPs are not yet revenue based!

After flying two segments of our RTW, I can confirm that BA are allocating Avios based on the prorated ticket cost on their legs, so I assume I’ll get the same from AA. Huge cut in LHR>JFK compared to those estimated under the old system.

Having now completed the RTW, booked via BA, I can confirm that both BA and AA allocated Avios on prorated ticket cost and all the rest (JL, QF and QR) on distanced based as per the BA.com calculator. All fights were prime, no codeshares.
