I'm making a change in routing so presumably it will now be re-ticketed and the new rules will apply.

Are there other OW airlines which still have distance-based earning, and would it be worth it to use one of those for the journey, with a future points transfer back to Avios?

I guess a disadvantage would be that my OW Emerald status would not be shown, but as I'll be flying in Business anyway this is less of an issue.
You really asking which ffp's are not revenue based.

Revenue based ffp's have rules for other flights, where they do not know the cost.
AS QF and others distance based. QF is a poor ffp compared to others.
Some ffp's like AS, BA, QR and QF have "X own airline flights" for status rule. IB does not.
Generally ff miles/points cannot be moved to other ffp's.
*Only* the ffp's that use avios as the currency, can avios can be moved between these ffps. Status cannot be moved. BA IB IE and QR Qatar use avios. Next year AY will use avois and become revenue based.

After getting ff miles/points/avios from this this trip what is the objective?
From flying ff miles/points/avios are not equal to earn to burn between ffp's. However many credit cards transfer to ffp's at the same rate.

From above you have done the calculation for BAEC avios
Worth doing the avios calculation for QR and IB ffp's. May or may not get a different answer to BAEC
Unsure if having some flights to BAEC and other flights to another ffp would calculate out. Changing the ffn is possible, but does not always stick.
