Is there a way to see the native fare when doing a fare query in EF?

Yes.
Strangely, you need to look at the routing rules for the fare to see the 'native' fare

I don't use EF, so I don't know. Sorry.

Here are some archives from March 2012, with rules and prices for all origination points, both OneWorld Explorer and Global Explorer fares.

And also, an even older file of OneWorld Explorer Fares from Jan 2005.

Is this what you had in mind?

Cool, thank you. I never would have thought to look there.

Around 2000, there were some "Pacific Circle" (not exactly the same as RTW, but could be used in the same way as a more flexible and cheaper alternative) fares involving QF, JAL, and NW (and perhaps other carriers, IIRC there was a Guam routing to Cairns that used CO). Pricing depended on bands of how many miles were traveled, but I remember paying around $3000 for a ticket that permitted several stops in Australia and routed through Japan in one direction.

Thank you very much! This is what I was hoping to find, although maybe an even broader range. I'm trying to find an example of super cheap fares from the past.

As you'll recall many of the best historical deals (ex-CAI, ex-KRT, etc) came from sudden Forex changes... so it's not just the sticker price, but also exchange rates that make for true bargains.

I know. I've found a few sites with historic exchange rates, so I was able to get some prices of, e.g., ex-CAI in 2011. I was hoping to be able to find a few dramatic examples. I'm trying to make a point that you can't assume that a low RTW fare is an "error fare" that is obviously a mistake.

Does anyone have an updated DONE4 base fare for ZAR and LKR?

Thanks.

ex-JNB DONE4 base fare ZAR102,000
ex-CMB DONE4 base fare USD6,608 (the fare is published in USD, not LKR)

Isn't it a bit academic at the moment ? I don't believe it's posssible to enter Sri Lanka (unless you're a citizen). Would it be possible to start a RTW ticket from there without going through immigration ?

On another topic (and apologies if this is the wrong forum - couldn't find a star alliance equivalent), what are the best (cheapest) places to start a star alliance rtw from at the moment ?

I'm not sure what is academic about it. While flights to Sri Lanka are currently suspended, since you can purchase an xonex to start up to 365 days in the future, maybe the poster is planning to start a rtw next September or October and is starting their planning now. Further, it used to possible to stay in transit in CMB and apparently transit is still possible even if entry is limited to citizens at the moment:
Transit via Sri Lanka is permitted, as long as the connecting flight is within 10 hours of arrival. Travellers should check with their airline on the transit times. There are limited airside refreshment facilities available due to COVID-19 restrictions.
For star alliance Rtw questions, see:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/star-alliance-413/
There are a number of threads in that forum that describe pricing by country. See, for example (there are others):

And also - is there a TA lurking here (or that someone can recommend) who can book me a Oneworld Explorer starting in OSL ? I assume that's still a good place to start ?
