Oneworld product pricing - PLEASE READ

I am taking the initiative to modifying the existing sticky thread regarding Oneworld "booking experiences" to include "pricing" experiences. I will be moving existing or new threads that describe pricing of various Oneworld products to that thread.

The reason for this is that, out of what might be an excess of caution, I'm going to move discussions of "deals" to a slightly more opaque location. While it's probably unlikely that airline sources monitor this board to spot "mistake" fares, or product fares that suddenly become "bargains" due to things like currency fluctuations, there might be some risk that can be mitigated - a little - by removing those fares from thread titles, for example. It might or might not work, but it probably can't hurt.

Comments on this thread or via PM are welcome.

Certainly worth a try. While I agree that the airlines may not monitor this board, we do; and when the ticket volume picks up as we all rush to buy the tickets, that will tip them off.

Come on, it was just a coincidence that we all needed to get to KRT, MPM, and CAI in the past. ;)

Of course it was. But I go back to MRU, in the late 2000s. ;)

And to JNB and BUD before that.;)

And SEL in the mid-2000's. CAI was a good deal then as well, though my very 1st one was from CPT since JNB was 'dangerous'.

Oh, yeah, I remember the MRU days. I did a lot of planning for one of those, but never went through with it.

I was doing two or three per year back then. The BA team in MRU didn't really understand the rules, and I got away with a lot!

Good prices at many places that didn't actually have oneworld service. Also, that was back when you had to have a TA in the country of origin or try for the Canadian exemption.

pbd456 Sep 5, 2018 11:33 am

price seems to have gone up uniformly over many countries. as i have connection in Canada, i dont think it is impossible for me to do the Canadian exemption.

i think oneworld is kind of smart to get rid country of origin as the airlines get direct feedback from agents about the good pricing in many places. hence, mpm, cai were shut off very fast.
it is probably harder for any deal to last if people keep on calling AA saying we get DONEx for 4000 USD.. they will send feedback to higher up to pull the fare.

The Canadian exception was removed along with the restriction to which it was an exception.
