Just a clarification concerning the rules below.

I'm in OZ and all my 4 segments are already used (PER-SYD, SYD-CNS, BNE-CHC, AKL-SYD). I'm thinking of adding another segment: CNS-BNE, which would cost me US$75 but then again, I'm unsure if adding an extra flight means a 'routing change' (we could argue that the routing is not changed as all tickets remain unchanged) and if I need to pay an additional US$75.

If this is the case, it cost me less to take a flight CNS-BNE with Virgin Blue, which is around A$150.

Any experience with that is very welcome.

Yes, you could argue that....but you would be wrong. It is indeed a ticket change and it is indeed an extra $75. Personally, even if it didn't incur the change fee I dont think it's worth taking the time and the hassle to do a reroute when for a bit more you can do it all online and be off to enjoy all that Australia has to offer.

Well actually, this was only because I wanted to stay more around CNS and to get to BNE quickly after. Another option was to go to BNE via train or bus and stop a couple of days on the road, like Townsville and Bundaberg.

Fact is, I did enjoy all I was doing before, taking my time, more time and extra time..and now I find myself with a lack of time

Absolutely no regret, though. I would do it again, I would leave for 3 years rather than one 8)

And since all four "free" segments are used, the next one would cost USD225, 75 for the re-issue and 150 for the extra segment.

Or you could book a Red e-Deal on QF for the same price (A$151) and get the miles.

I took the Tilt instead and I'm in Bundaberg.

I'm resigned not to have any miles though as I'm travelling in M class for a MONE5. This make any attempt to collect miles effecitvely absolutely futile unless I plan to do a RTW every month which is hardly the case
