Advice on an rtw route please
Hello everyone I've started planning a rtw trip for 2004 and feel that the one world ticket might be ideal for my needs, however can not find anywhere online so far that I can check the route. I have no problem using other one-way flights or overland sectors if needed within this route.
London New York (might leave out New York and go straight to Mexico city)
New York Mexico City
Mexico City Lima
Lima Santiago (maybe overland)
Santiago Easter Island
Easter Island Auckland
Auckland Sydney
Sydney/Brisbane Bangkok
Bangkok Kathmandu
Kathmandu Mumbai (maybe overland)
Mumbai Cairo
Cairo - Rome
Rome London
Any advice on this would be welcomed as well as any suggestion to stops that could be taken as part of this route as extras.

There are a couple of electronic timetables for Oneworld flights that you can use for trip planning.
They are located here and here.
There are a number of problems with your routing that will require you to choose transit points or alternative routings. For example, there are no direct flights NYC-MEX nor MEX-LIM nor IPC-AKL, etc. I do not think that OW carriers fly to KTM. The only way to get to CAI from BOM is via LHR but once you return to LHR your trip is completed (assuming you start from LHR).
You might also take a look at Star Alliance routings, although they don't go to all the places you want to go to either. Their electronic timetable can be downloaded from here.

Thanks Exmo those schedules are very helpful. Made some changes
MAN JFK
JFK MIA
MIA MEX
Overland or one way flight to Lima then same going on to Santiago
SCL IPC
IPC SCL AKL
AKL SYD
SYD BKK
BKK HKG NRT
NRT HKG BKK
Seperate return ticket to Kathmandu
BKK HEL LHR CAI
CAI LHR FCO
FCO - MAN
However I believe this leaves me with 3 stopovers in Europe 1 more than allowed. Any advice/sugestions once again welcomed.

A few comments:
You can travel on OWE MEX-DFW (or MIA)-LIM-SCL rather than buying a separate ticket.
If you can't book SCL-AKL when you want to travel consider changing to SCL-SYD-AKL-SYD-BKK.
The way you have laid out the itinerary it appears that you are only stopping in CAI and FCO, however, you do have five segments in Europe and are only allowed four. Looks like the only way to fix this is to drop either HEL or FCO from the OWE itinerary (i.e. ticket separately).
You will run into problems due to the 20 segment limit if you choose to fly MEX-DFW-LIM-SCL but you will be OK if you drop HEL or FCO. Also, you can cut the number of total segments by going SYD-NRT-HKG-BKK.

OK tweaked the route a bit now got SYD - NRT & NRT - BKK. Thought MEX - LIM would not be allowed due to backtracking back NA to change at either MIA or DFW. Still got a problem with europe but may just drop FCO & leave it as CAI - MAN.

OK got rid of FCO but how about making HEL a stop before going on to CAI making it only 3 stopovers in Europe and 2 transits.

HKG is a good stopover city. Lots to do and see.
You have a couple more segments you can use in Asia and SWP. If you want to relax in a paradise for a few days and then see one of the most modern cities in Asia consider NRT-HKG-DPS-SIN-BKK. If you want to see some more of Oz, try AKL-SYD-PER-DRW-CNS-NRT.

You do realize that this ticket would be much cheaper if you started in CAI instead of MAN ... just buy a separate ticket MAN-CAI-MAN and have BA issue the routing from Cairo (purchased from the BA office in Cairo). People are flying from HKG to CAI to buy their tickets there -- so great is the bargain. And you want to go there for tourism ...

number_6 has an excellent point. Based on today's exchange rate, here are the *ONE5 current fares for first, business and coach, ex-Egypt and ex-UK in GBP:
Egypt 3305/2565/1200
UK 7419/4919/2119 or 1919
The two coach UK fares are for high and low season originations, respectively.
Even though you aren't going to take the trip until 2004, you could travel to CAI now, buy your ticket and take the first segment, CAI-LHR. This will lock in the fare in case the EGP strengthens or OW raises the prices ex-CAI, as they did ex-JNB when the Rand crashed a couple of years ago.

If you mean me, then that's a little bit of an exagerration! I was coming to Europe anyway for a holiday and simply diverted to CAI to pick up my next OWE rather than Paris which is where I had bought the last couple. But a AONE3 from CAI is about 15% cheaper than a DONE3 from the Euro zone, so you could buy a separate MAN-CAI-MAN plus a First Class RTW for the rest of your trip for about the same as you would pay for Business Class from MAN.
