OWE5: to open-date or not?

OWE5: to open-date or not?
Hi all,
After finally convincing BA and QF and my TA that it actually *is* possible to open-date all flight segments on a OWE5, my question is
Should I? How important is it? Am I letting myself in for lots of horrible problems if I don't? I just like the idea of knowing that all my airport taxes are paid before I leave.

Open ticketing makes life a lot easier if you want to change a date or time of a flight.
As for all you airport taxes being paid -- don't count on it. There are some taxes that are not put on a ticket - departure taxes in CCS and BKK come to mind but there are others.

I had all of my last RTWs open dated (except the first int. sector). I dont see any disadvantages. Taxes are calculated based on the cities, not on the dates. So your ticket will include the taxes.
My experience is (specifically in the US, when for example AA stops flying a certain route) that showing up with an open first class ticket they find ways to get you to an destination vs. having a coupon for a certain days they try to find out if you even are allowed to change the date.

When purchasing a ONEx with open dated sectors are only the obligatory taxes included?
If I start to apply dates in the future that means some connections are Transfers rather than Stopovers does this mean I am due to pay more tax or should I get some tax back?

Open-dated => paper ticket?
In the past I have been told (by CX in JNB and BA in HRE) that they can't issue a ticket with open-dated segments as an e-ticket. Is that always true or has anyone had e-tickets issued with open-dated segments?

I thought I had been told this in the past before as well.
I am in contact with BA in MRU at the moment and will ask them if it needs to be a paper ticket. If it is I may as well add my other 4 sectors back in. I was purposely making the itn 16 sectors to try and avoid this.

I haven't had a OWE e-tkt with open segments, but I have had CX issue a normal roundtrip e-tkt (HKG-TPE=HKG) with the return as open, so I don't think there's a problem in principle.

When I bought my current DONE, CX told me that the system doesn't allow to issue e-ticket for interline open segments.
