anyone knows if these changes are true ? removing the one-transcontinental-flight-only restriction would be a really great change...

You guys Be happy
I just finished a one hour phone call to Michael of AA RTW Desk and he happily booked me a first class RTW ticket consisting of the following routing within US
===MIA-MSY-SEA-MIA-LAX-SJU-LAX-SYD=====
AS YOU SEE IT HAS SEA-MIA, MIA-LAX, LAX-SJU, SJU-LAX ALL TRANSCONTINENTAL
I didnt specifically ask him whether the rule has been changed.
Good luck

Do it soon. The OWE rules change frequently and now are variable depending on the country of origin. More challenging of course

The elimination of the trans-con rule would be GREAT news. drbala, please let us know more details about what you have found out. Although I may advocate DFW - ANC, I certainly would prefer a P Class seat from MIA - SEA with only a 300 mile cost each way!!

I just called in this morning and added an extra SFO-JFK segment.. No problem at all... have to go to the ticket office today to get the ticket re-issued. If only this change was done earlier! =P

Hi RichLond

Your point well taken about SEA-MIA rather than DFW-ANC. I agree and will sacrifice 300 miles for a P class service. I have now confirmed my new RTW itinerary following your advice and will post soon

I called AARTW desk today and talked to a very nice and helpful agent *Jeannie= whom I now quite well on the telephone. I asked her point blank whether the one transcontinental trip rule is gone; to my surprise she said no, it is still there. I AM CONFUSED, HELP

Jeannie is one of the best and most knowledgable people at the desk. Personally, she is one of only 3 people who I would believe without seriously checking it out. That being said, she will make mistakes from time to time, so I would just go to a cto and ask for a star printout with the updated rules. I don't have the starcode location anywhere near me, but I am sure someone will email it to you if you need it.

dbala,

can we hide their names? e.g the agent who let u book the 5 transcont.
just in case if it turned out to be a mistake, he wont be held responsible for being generous to you.

I just had my OneWorld Explorer RTW re-issued with 2 transcon on it. When I called the RTW desk, they were ok with the new routing, and when the ticket agent called the international fare and tarrif desk to re-calculate the ticket, they didn't seem to have a problem with it either. So I guess the one transcon rule is gone...

This should be very close to getting you Executive Plat. status on Q-points, if not being sufficient already (65000 base miles * 1.50 Q-points/mile = close to 100000 Q-points). Be sure to enrol in the Platinum Challenge if you do not already have Plat status or higher!

Re: the one transcontinental rule, I can't confirm this, but that doesn't mean it's not true. The rules from N*/OW EXPLORER I have posted on the Unofficial oneworld Info Desk are dated 25Jun2001 (the date is listed on the left of the last line of the star file), so if there have been any changes, they are very recent indeed.

Re: the DONE* fare, I can't remember who posted it or how the person phrased it, but a few months back there was someone who posted on the AA forum about buying a supposedly "business class" OWE but ending up in coach for the domestic segments... in fact I can't remember if it was more a complaint about this problem of not letting him/her into A-class on 2-class planes on a DONE* or more a complaint about capacity controls.

Disclaimer: Even though I am the "keeper" of the Unoffical oneworld Info Desk, I am entirely reliant upon others for the source info so I can only give answers based on the info I have available. Note that I cannot speak from experience as I have not done a OWE ... yet !
