A "Beyond Rookie" RTW Question
My intinerary is very fluid at present, but I think it will go like this:
SEA-YVR on Alaska Air
YVR-HKG on Cathay Pacific
HKG-DXB on Cathay Pacific
DXB-LHR on British Airways
LHR-ORD on American Airlines
ORD-SEA on American Airlines
This is company travel, and as such, will be booked by company travel agency.
What, if anything, can I do to maximize my benefits?
I can travel eastbound, if required. That is not my preference, however.
Is there any benefit/requirement to coordinate with the American RTW desk?
Thanks,

#1) Buy a seperate SEA-YVR/SEA ticket then buy a 3 Cont 1W RTW ticket. The fare is cheaper from Canada. The price difference will outway the Alaskan tkt price.
#2) Personal preference says to fly LHR-HKG(on CX) then LHR-DXB (on BA) if in First, if in Biz it is a toss up. If in coach, fly HKG-DXB on CX. I think it has a stop or even 2 sometimes.
If money is an issue (and your agent doesn't know of RTWs) you could possibly tell your travel agent to book it point to point in coach and get the amont approved. I am guessing the RTW biz and even First price is less than the point to point fare in coach so you could then get authorization to fly biz ot First.

If time is no problem, and you're not afraid of the impression it might make on your employer, you could make all sorts of free stopovers on your proposed itinerary.
Other than that, I agree with DLPlat BAGold's comments. The reason for going HKG-LHR-DXB if in F class is that you get sleeper seats all the way.
Also, 3 days out of the week, the CX flight to DXB makes a stop (I believe in BKK) and most of the time F class is not offered on this route.
