IBERIA and AAdvantage
have the eligible fare codes to accumaltae AA miles for IBERIA flights changed recently?? Some old postings indicate most published fares were valid, but the web site now indicates only Y and R for non-trans- Atlantic flights are valid.
i was hoping to fly an N class fare from BRU - BCN for 95 USD. Would this accrue miles on any of the 1 world partners?

Rich, I would suggest contacting AAdvantage Customer Service directly to make certain which fare codes are acceptable. I recently flew BCN-FCO on IB. It took AA probably fifteen minutes to find our if the fare class was acceptable. The reps. screen had something similar to "effective May 1998". I am not certain why she was so amazed that I asked her to please get an update from someone considering that is is the end of 1999! Several other threads have posted applicable fare classes, but if only $95 stands in the way of 100K, I would call. Good Luck!

aa has updated all of its partner listings on their website with applicable fare codes for credit. go to iberia for earning miles. i only think n counts for transatlantic travel, not intra-europe where full fare coach is necessary.

Yes, it appears that AA has made some changes. I have a ticket for AMS/BCN on Dec 11 that was purchased in early Nov in M class. At that time M class earned mileage. Will I have a problem with my 100,000 Bonus? Should I be worried? What should I do?

I went to the AA office in London in mid November after a LHR-MAD-BIO-MAD-LHR done in M class on IB in early November. They told me M qualified for miles.
I'll let you know as soon as the boarding passes I sent to AAdvantage customer service (2 weeks ago) are processed.

I spoke with AAdvantage custom,er service rep Deborah on Friday. It appears that though the web info has been updated re: which IB fares are eligible for mileage accumulation, it seems the AAdvantage staff haven't been up[dated on it. They only have "all published fares" without any restrictions. Some hope for those of us who flew inter-europe on M fares

According to the AA Website re: Iberia
Economy Class: Trans-Atlantic B,G,H,K,L,M,N,O,Q,V,W
Economy Class: R, Y
I wonder if AA is limiting intra-Europe mileage to A)drive us to a codeshare flight out of LHR B)too many of us flew on shorthaul trips to receive the 100K bonus. It also appears that AA may be limiting/eliminating mileage for NetsAAver fares similar to CP on their discounted intra-Canada flights.

Andrew:
AAdvantage recently changed their policy regarding premium status. You can qualify for G/P/EP through either actual flight miles and/or the point system. It seems to be a good reward system for those that fly last minute full fare economy, business or first. Ultimately I believe that we will have a lot more individuals attempting to get upgrades. I give it a year or so before AA Marketing comes up with a Titanium level.

Just checked my AAdvantage account and the LHR-MAD-BIO in M class on 5 November did credit so I now have the 4 member OneWorld bonus. The info does note that the flights were in Y class FWIW.
Strangely, the AY ARN-HEL segment (no real restrictions on AY) I submitted at the same time hasn't credited yet for the 5 member 50k bonus. In the next few days hopefully.

Those fare classes are for trans-atlantic travel on IB only. Inter-europe is much more restrictive and it is in regard to mileage accrual and no points.
Just got off the phone with BA Canada. Seems Iberia gives credit for C & Y flights so that blows out my mileage plan unless they credit the flights in Y like AA so (unintentionally) kindly did.

I also had an M class flight from AMS to BCN. American told me that it would not qualify for the bonus miles which is why I have been trying to find out if I can get bonus miles on Canadian. Now I see that Terenz says he received credit for his M class flight. All this confusion creates a bit of anziety and uncertainty. Hopefully future promotions will have better defined rules.
