In my experience, changes to get good senior agent when calling QF Australian number are better after local business hours. Even normal calls seems to be routed sometimes to premium desk at that time. If calling late or nighttime more calls seems to be routed to nz that is not so competent than oz team. And to keep on topic, I did another small date change with AY, frontline AY gold agent asked first from supervisor, didn't agreed to make the change first without the change fee as the change involved marketing carrier change which needed reissue. After I asked to check fare rules with rating they happily agreed with the change. I really miss using AA RTW desk where I didn't needed always explain fare rules to frontline agents. But good thing with AY is not needing to wait in hold if matter is not urgent. They always call/e-mail/sms back after resolving issue. |

As a OW elite you can ask to get connected to premium desk when calling to normal QF res number, even that it's not possible to call directly to elite numbers without having QF status.

I originally got once routed to an excellent premium agent by chance. She had empathy for my troubles with new hires and suggested to do that next time. It have worked quite well if the call goes to oz-based call center.

I wonder if anyone anyone was ever successful at getting a detailed breakdown of taxes and fees of a xONEx originally booked, ticketed by AA and eventually re-priced and re-issued by AA. If so, I'd be curious to know about the process and the AA department that provided such detailed breakdown.
I am asking because after I made routing changes to an existing xONEx with RTW AA Desk, the re-priced/re-issued ticket does not provide a detailed breakdown of taxes/fees under my personal AA online account. I have asked the AA RTW Desk to provide the details, but they said they don't have a way to access them and suggested to contact AA Customer Support. I was expecting a larger refund of taxes/fees based on the changes I made, but not having a detailed breakdown makes it impossible to understand what happened to the recalculation of taxes/fees. |

did you try to get a break down by printing the entire ticket at airport? i dont know if it would work for re-issued ticket. but for the PNR that was ticketed on AA. I was able to print out all the tax from an airport staff (but AA RTW desk wouldnt give me the break down.). Obviously, re-issued is totally different.

yes - have done re-routings since departure ex CAI on AONE4 - not a problem at all other than total incompotence of BA agents to figure it out as per my opening post to this thread. I did the changes after my first flight CAI to LHR |

At the time of re-pricing/re-routing, I was aware that the recalculated taxes/fees did not seem correct, but I decided to wait given that representatives were already saying that within days fares those would be blocked etc. I am assessing now whether it is worth to try to clarify the taxes/fees amount or simply let it be. The difference should be a rather large amount, based on my calculations made on ITA Matrix. But as far as making changes to ex-CAI xONEx post-departure (after the first segment has been flown), it should be fine at this time. I am not sure about making routing changes pre-departure (before the first flight has been flown), though. |

To add one more bit of data: when I made routing changes to my ex-CAI DONE4 it was re-priced and re-issued quite fast to my surprise, and luckily I should add, given that it was the last day AA was ticketing ex-CAI xONEx back in November. I called the following day with questions about the taxes/fees of my re-issued ticket, was put on hold while the agent got in touch with the fares dept, and after a long wait I was told that the fares agent was having issues recalculating the taxes/fess because the fare had been blocked, so they did not have access to the fare in their system. At the time, I was not sure whether this was in fact possible or just a way for the fares dept to bypass my issue. But given that ex-CAI fares had indeed been blocked on that day, I did not want to risk complicating my re-issued ticket in any way, and decided to leave it as that, but maybe try again after I had flown the first segment and when new ex-CAI fares would have been published. The latter seems to have been delayed for quite a bit, unless I have missed any news on new published fares ex-CAI..? Nonetheless, I will be looking into this further and will put an effort to get an actual breakdown of taxes/fees from AA. Will report back with any new developments on this thread, as the issue pertains to re-issue issues, or "re:re-issues" :D |
I called BA in HK (original issuing office) to change a flight today. No dice.
It's the 4th leg of my ex-CAI DONE3, QR connecting to QR (the 5th leg). I just wanted a shorter connection, same day same O/D. (you know how hard it is for D-class married inventory to come by on QR...) They said they couldn't do the tax recalculation :( (I have not flown the first segment) A much greater issue is I now might have some unforeseen circumstances that would require me to change the 2nd and 3rd flights (after my first flight CAI-LHR which I can fortunately keep it intact.). I'm getting worried if I'll have enough time/access to capable agents to handle the change (layover between 1st flight arrival and 2nd flight departure is only around ~20 hours, and I would have to change the LHR stop from a transit to a stopover......) |
too bad BA could not process your routing changes, so this seems to confirm that ex-CAI xONEx pre-departure routing changes are not possible since the freeze.
as for making routing changes immediately after flying the first segment, you could consider calling the AA RTW desk after landing at LHR and have them take over the ticket to process the changes, but obviously only if the time difference works out to reach them during office hours. |
